I’ve always been more interested in creating an atmosphere than an event.

The kind of atmosphere where musicians, dancers, artists, and curious minds naturally find themselves in conversation.

Where learning feels just as important as performing.

Where traditions are shared with respect, music is experienced before it’s danced, and strangers become part of the same community by the end of the evening.

That’s the spirit behind our Friday Kickoff.

We’ll begin with the Roots & Rhythms Experience, exploring rhythm, song, percussion, movement, and the cultural traditions that connect them. From there, we’ll gather for our Community Showcase, celebrating artists from across San Diego, before opening the floor for an evening of social dancing.

Whether you come to learn, perform, listen, dance, or simply enjoy being surrounded by people who love the arts, I hope you’ll join us.

Vibe Check - Bollywood Edition

This performance at @worldrhythmdancefest in collaboration with @wheelchairdancersorg is a high-energy inclusive fusion choreography set to the dynamic beats of song Oye Oye from the Bollywood movie Dhurandhar 2. The piece seamlessly blends Indian folk with urban free style dance. It celebrates the concept of unstoppable momentum, showing that rhythm is a heartbeat shared by all bodies.

Dancers: Savahanna O'Toole @zebra.in.the.city , Swati Boddapati @swatiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii , Meghna Shah @love.meghna and Lekha Motiwala @lekha.dream.zone

Proud to be Peruvian ❤️🇵🇪 dancing a Festejo, a rhythm that reflects the rich cultural blending of Peru. When cultures and races come together, they become stronger and even more beautiful. ✨
❤️🇵🇪
