The World Spa & Wellness Awards @worldspawellness were presented in London on 4 October, and this year’s results held a few surprises. Golden Door @thegoldendoor took Spa of the Year for North and South America, and Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island @waldorfastoriaplatteisland was named Worldwide Luxury Hotel and Resort Spa of the Year. What surprised me most was how few of the global hotel giants made the list. Lefay @lefayresorts won twice across two of its Italian resorts, Lapinha Spa @lapinhaspa in Brazil took both Spa Team and Sustainable Spa of the Year, and a bathhouse in Hoxton was named Independent Spa Business of the Year. What the winners share is a clear point of view, and that is something any operator can build, whatever the size of the company behind them. Which result surprised you most? Tell me in the comments, and if you’d like an outside eye on what would put your spa in contention, get in touch below. Some cities have grand museums. Others have legendary restaurants. Budapest has entire palaces dedicated to the art of doing absolutely nothing. And frankly, we think that’s rather wonderful. ♨️🇭🇺 From the steaming outdoor pools of Széchenyi to the atmospheric Ottoman dome at Rudas, Budapest’s thermal baths are far more than a wellness trend. They’re part of the city’s soul, where centuries of history meet the simple pleasure of sinking into mineral-rich waters and letting the world get on without you for a while. Having lived in Budapest, we know there’s more to the city’s bathing culture than its famous yellow facades. There are local favourites, hidden gems, architectural masterpieces and wonderfully affordable escapes, each with a character all its own. So, which should you visit? We’ve rounded up the best thermal baths and spas in Budapest, whether you’re after historic grandeur, a romantic escape or simply a few blissful hours in the warm water. Your next Budapest city break deserves a little time to soak it all in. Celebrating excellence in global spa and wellness! Congratulations to all the winners of the 2026 @worldspawellness Awards! This year was particularly meaningful for me, having had the privilege of judging the Worldwide Health & Wellness Destination of the Year category. The calibre of finalists was exceptional, each bringing a distinctive philosophy, innovation and approach to the guest experience. A special congratulations to @lefayresorts - The Resort & SPA Lago di Garda, Italy, on winning this prestigious title for the third time — a remarkable testament to sustained excellence, vision and consistency. It was inspiring to see how destination wellness continues to evolve, with such diverse interpretations of what truly exceptional wellbeing experiences can be. Congratulations to every winner and finalist for continuing to raise the bar for our industry! #WorldSpaWellnessAwards #DestinationWellness #WellnessLeadership #SpaIndustry wellnesshospitality

Every square foot of your spa is real estate, yet most spas only ask the treatment rooms to pay their way. The relaxation lounge sits empty between appointments, the boutique waits for someone to wander past on their way out, and reception is somewhere your clients pass through when it could be somewhere they stay. Those are the areas we pay a lot of attention to in an audit, because they’re already built, already lit and already staffed, so getting them to earn costs far less than adding another treatment room. Social events are one of the easiest ways to do it. Think of a monthly book club in the relaxation lounge, or a craft night in the boutique. Picture a quiet Tuesday evening: twelve guests at $45 each, with a glass of fizz and a hand treatment included, brings in $540 from a space that would otherwise have earned nothing that night. The bigger prize is who walks through the door. Many of those guests will be friends of your regulars who have never booked with you, and they leave having seen the space, met your team and tried your products. If you haven’t looked at what each area of your spa earns per square foot, then this is a sign to do it. If you’d like help turning your quieter spaces into revenue, or a deep dive into your P&L, then get in touch below. Living in Retreat, London edition 🇬🇧🤍 Come with me as I spend time in London for the World Spa & Wellness Convention, with a little mother-daughter adventure with Grace woven in along the way. Between convention days, we explored the city, squeezed in morning runs, hunted down an authentic chai (extra spicy), discovered nourishing wholefood spots and made time for a little self-care. Sharing these moments with Grace, exploring somewhere new together and talking about her future plans to study abroad made this trip extra special. A little work, a little exploring, and finding those moments of retreat wherever we are. ✨ #London #retreatwithme #mindfulliving #livinginretreat #wellnesstravel @worldspawellness @auroraspaandbathhouse @aspar_aus

Most guests could never tell you exactly what was off in a treatment (just like this one), but they would feel it, and it would stay with them long after they had paid the bill. These are the details we pick up in our forensic spa audits, because they are the ones your clients won’t mention in a review but will hang on to when they decide whether to rebook. Alicia at @renuraskin and I have spent years together in ultra-luxury treatment rooms, so have a proper look and tell us what you spotted. We’ll share the answers in the comments later this week. If you’d like your team trained to catch these moments before your clients do, we run half-day five-star standards workshops for spa teams, so get in touch below. Different perspectives. One shared objective: how do we grow spa revenue more intelligently? It was a privilege to speak on the @worldspawellness Convention stage in Excel, London for the session: BOOST YOUR SPA REVENUE WITH WINNING MARKETING TACTICS I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with an accomplished group of industry leaders: Patty Neumeier — Senior Director, Spa, Americas, Marriott International Ashley Ashton — Spa Director, Rockliffe Hall, UK Marisa Cachero Dimitriadis — Founder & CEO, The Spa Consultants, South Africa Reena Sheth — Founder & Chief Wellness Strategist What made the conversation especially valuable was how differently each of us approached the subject — bringing perspectives from global hotel operations, destination spa leadership, consulting, guest experience and commercial strategy. There was no single formula for growth — and that was exactly the point. A heartfelt thank you to @jeanguydegabriac and @Mark Moloney for inviting me to contribute on such a prestigious stage and for creating a platform where the industry can exchange ideas, challenge conventional thinking and learn from one another. Grateful for the conversation on stage — and for the many that continued afterwards. #WorldSpaWellness #WSWC2026 #SpaIndustry #SpaLeadership #Hospitality RevenueGrowth MarketingStrategy GuestExperience WellnessIndustry
