What a way to start our Aussie biking research trip!

Warburton Bike Park, just over an hour’s drive from Melbourne, is up there with Australia’s top spots for mountain biking, and it’s set to get even better.

Winding through the beautifully dense eucalypt and mountain ash forest of the Yarra Valley, there’s already over 80km of expertly built trails and heaps more to come. Climb to the top via the wonderfully winding Earn Ya Ferns trail, or hop on the shuttle to maximise your downhill shred time.

Many thanks to MTB gurus Matt Harrington and @paulvanderplow for showing us around, and Matt and the crew at @ridetime_bikes for the quality E-MTBs. Being Wellingtonians, we’d normally go fully acoustic but hey, when in Rome…! With this and so many other places to ride around the Warby area, we can’t wait to come back.

🎉🎉🎉 IT’S OFFICIAL – WE’RE GETTING A PUMP TRACK! 🚴‍♀️🛹

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Pump Track for Cape Woolamai has successfully secured the funding to build Bass Coast’s first-ever pump track! 🙌🎉

What started as a community dream has finally become a reality, and we couldn’t be more excited!

This has been a long journey, driven by passionate locals who believe our community deserves more opportunities for outdoor recreation, active play and connection.

A HUGE thank you to Bass Coast Shire Council for backing this project, recognising the importance of recreational opportunities for our community, and working towards making the vision a reality.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Jordan Crugnale MP and the Victorian Government and Sport and Recreation Victoria for supporting this project through the grant funding. Your investment in local recreation and community infrastructure will make a lasting difference to Cape Woolamai and the wider Bass Coast community.

To everyone who signed the petition, shared our posts, attended consultations, provided feedback, wrote letters of support or simply encouraged us along the way — THANK YOU! ❤️ This achievement belongs to our whole community.

And of course, thank you to everyone who has worked behind the scenes to help get us to this point. Every bit of support has helped bring us one step closer.

This pump track will be so much more than a place to ride. It will be a space for kids, teenagers, families and riders of all abilities to get active, build confidence, connect with others and enjoy the outdoors.

🌊 Cape Woolamai, we did it! 🌊

Here’s to creating something special for our community and future generations. We can’t wait to see the first wheels rolling!

Cheers Dave, Deb and Shannon
