We closed last week so here’s my 🚽 Urinetown Dump 🚽

Getting to play 🪠Bobby Strong 🧻 was such an unexpected surprise (“Is there any other kind?”) He was just the right combo of vocals and comedy for me. This show was a wild ride but I am grateful for this cast who supported and validated me along the way. I’ll miss doing this silly show with these silly people 🫶🏽 #GoPissGirl 💛

For years I never truly saw my potential as a romantic lead because of my perceived “type” yet I always knew I was more than some comic relief. After college when I gained weight, I still submitted for roles not typical for those with my “look” or “body type”. The amount of raised eyebrows I got and times I heard “…so you want to be considered for (insert role typically played by a thin cis white male)?” were all worth it the moment I proved myself in the audition room. Nothing is more satisfying than (in a small way) crushing antiquated, toxic theatre norms. ✊🏽

We need to cast different body types in principal roles. We need more body diversity. (Don’t get me started on racial diversity) Let’s actually think “outside the box”. My beautiful big bodied friends: continue to show up and show out!! Don’t limit yourself or your talents. Know your worth. If a brown, thicc Bobby Strong can exist, “there’s still hope for dreams!” 🤩💕✨
