AFTER 2018 — ANNA MORGAN RETURNS TO INDIA THIS WEEK 🇮🇳⚡️

The wait is finally over. Underground bass music force Anna Morgan lands back in India from 15th May onwards for a long-awaited return after her last run in 2018.

Anna Morgan is a Bronx-born DJ, producer, curator, and label co-founder known for her globally influenced bass-heavy sound rooted in NYC underground culture. Of Jamaican and Japanese descent, her music blends club energy with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, jungle, footwork, breaks, grime, UK bass, baile funk, house, and experimental electronic music. She is the co-founder of the acclaimed multi-genre rave movement HEAVY and the NYC-based label and party series Worst Behavior Recs, both recognized for pushing forward-thinking underground sounds and diasporic club culture.

Known for explosive genre-fluid sets and raw dancefloor energy, Anna Morgan has performed at major international festivals including Outlook, Shambhala, Bass Coast, Lightning in a Bottle, and Dirtybird Campout, while touring across Europe, North America, and Asia. Her productions have been released on respected underground labels such as 3024, Juke Bounce Werk, Defrostatica, Fantastic Voyage, and Armada Sounds, earning support from artists and platforms including BBC Radio 1, NTS, Rinse FM, Resident Advisor, Sherelle, Madam X, and Yaeji.

Last evening I got to feature on @jaycarderdj’s @rinse.fm radio residency.
Played a 40-min mix that moves through dub, jungle, footwork, and some floating, rattling, left-of-centre sounds I’ve been digging. Mix is now on rinse soundcloud and @rinse.fm (Link in Bio)

Who would’ve thought!! Sharing some clips from last night

Sharing moments from my last mix for @desculonizacion, along with reflections (translated to English) about the mix I found in my notes app. For the full experience, head to SoundCloud by following the link in my bio. Thanks to everyone who’s listened, shared, and left feedback. It warms my corazón. ñau 💋

Many things happened from when I started this mix to when I finished it. Its final shape reflects the times: what it means to live within the colonial oppressive system, witnessing g3n0c1d3s occur before us, the role and historicity of music through rebellions and struggles for liberation, my current state with the world, and what music connects and awakens within me.

Like my other mixes, I continue to create with/from sounds from the island(s) Antillanos and the Caribbean region with contemporary club sounds from the Black diaspora and Abya Yala. In comparison to my other mixes, there’s less dembow. I wanted to focus on other Black rhythms deeply rooted in these lands--the Dominican Republic & Haiti. I highlight ritmos often cast under or related to spirituality and folklore, such as Palos, Gagá, and Vudu. The blends offer an opportunity to reimagine history, time, and narratives.

The result is a collection of soundscapes I deeply cherish—a kind of fantastical Antillean Caribbean club experience—saturated, mixed, and as fast-paced as life on the island. The mix becomes an escape/fuga and a gesture where I experiment with a sonic incantation to invoke and awaken what needs to burst out from within.

AWWW I just found the FIRST ever captions I wrote for my first radio show in 2019!!!

It was called "Level up with Vanessa Maria" on 1020 Radio which has sadly closed down since

The station was based in Bristol and I would literally pay for people's coaches to come down and get interviewed (WHEW!)

✨ I will always be grateful to Sean McGovern for giving me this opportunity!! One of the best I know in Radio!

ANYWAY, full tracklist for your headtops!!
