The future of work starts with the opportunities we create in our classrooms😎

Last week, I attended the launch of the @wced_official Western Cape Education Department’s Technical Schools Revitalisation Programme at @hts_bellville_ths , with Premier @alan.winde and Education Minister @jaco.londt .

With R127 million committed across six schools, the programme connects classroom learning with practical skills, industry-recognised certifications and pathways into employment, entrepreneurship and further study.

My favourite part? The people! Connecting with the department and students, sharing laughs and hearing about the futures they imagine for themselves made the day especially meaningful. ✨

As technology and AI reshape how we work, education must keep evolving too. I’m excited to see what 2027 and beyond bring as these young people gain the skills and confidence to turn possibility into opportunity.

Because behind every skill we invest in is a person with a future worth building.

Aggg who cares about content 🙄

For me, identity gives strategy its direction. Technology helps us act on it, and media connects that work to the world.

What an amazing day speaking at Emeris, in a room filled with bright minds and future media leaders. 🫶🏼

As we navigate an AI-driven future, understanding who we are, what we stand for and the stories we want to tell matters more than ever.

Thank you, @emeris_za @emeris_alumni @life_at_emeris , for the opportunity to share, connect and learn alongside the next generation of storytellers. 💙

Dream big, and dream wide enough to make room for others in the vision.
True leadership is not about telling the next generation who to be, but about paving the way with courage, leading by example, and having the humility to step back and let them teach us too.
In a world that keeps changing, it is not our age, status, area code, or qualifications that make us worthy of the next door, it is the mindset we carry, the faith we walk in, and the purpose attached to our steps.
Every generation needs the other, and when we honor that, we stop rising alone and start rising together.

Is it just me or… Does applying for jobs feel a little like a paddle game. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 Everyone is talking about it, there’s hype around the next move, and you kind of know what to do…

but somehow you’re still standing there like, “Okay, but where do I actually start?

Or daammmn, I should be a baseball player with this swing🤷🏼‍♀️🤣”

Maybe you love the process and it feels exciting. Maybe you’ve done it before, but trying again feels a little nerve-wracking.

Either way, you’re not behind. You’re just building the confidence to step back into the game with more clarity, more strategy, and a stronger sense of who you are and what you bring.

The next opportunity may not need a perfect version of you, just a prepared one. 🤭

How free are you? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Your career is not just a word on your LinkedIn bio or a title people use to introduce you. It is a daily practice. It is what you choose, build, learn, repeat, and align with when no one is watching.

The work you do shapes more than your bank account.
It shapes your confidence, your circle, your energy, your discipline, your peace, and the version of you that walks into the future. Because everything in life is a sale.

Not in a fake way, but in the way you communicate value, build trust, show up, and believe in what you carry.

The future is not somewhere far away.

The future is you, right now.

So my question to you is…what are you practising daily, and what story are you teaching the world to believe about you?

What if your degree is no longer the thing that sets you apart?🤷🏼‍♀️

With South Africa’s unemployment rate at 32.7%, so many young people are studying similar things, applying for the same roles, and trying to stand out in a world where AI is changing how we work.

The question is no longer only, “What did you study?”

It is: who are you becoming, and what human value do you bring that cannot be automated?

The World Economic Forum predicts that 39% of workers’ core skills will change by 2030. So maybe the future belongs to those who are not just qualified, but adaptable, self-aware, and ready.

Have a look at the short clip from last week’s Career Circle discussion.

What are your thoughts?🫶🏼

Education, redefined, begins with one truth.🤫
We aren’t lacking potential, we are too often lacking access.
In places like Vrygrond, where culture, heart, and resilience live so vividly, too many people grow up feeling overlooked by systems that were never built to fully see them. When a learner must walk 10 to 20 kilometers just to reach school, the problem is not ambition, talent, but opportunity.

In an age shaped by digital change and AI, education can no longer be limited to textbooks alone; it must include digital literacy, financial understanding, practical workmanship, and the real-world skills that prepare young people for meaningful work and purposeful lives.

If we truly want to tackle youth unemployment in South Africa, then we must rise together across private and public sectors to invest not only in schooling, but in people, reminding every young person, regardless of area code, race, gender, or social status, that we are seen, we are valuable, and we are worthy of a future bigger than the limits of our environment…🫶🏼
