Since this was my first race with the IAME X30 engine, I had no real expectations. I had only trained with it for the first time on Friday in just three short sessions, so I approached the event mainly as a learning opportunity.

Qualifying was challenging due to the mixed weather. The track was neither fully wet nor dry, making grip unpredictable. I started strong and improved as the circuit slowly dried, eventually qualifying P19 out of 36—respectable for my first session, though I know there was more pace available.

In Heat 1, I got caught in a start-line incident that pushed me to the back and triggered a pushback bumper, resulting in a three-second penalty. While recovering, I was hit by a driver attempting an unrealistic overtake, which earned me an additional penalty and dropped me to P25.

In Heat 2, we had to choose between slicks or wets as the track kept drying, and we opted for slicks, which was the right call. After another pushback and a track-limits penalty from using the runoff during an overtake attempt, I finished P24.

The final was my first night race, and visibility was extremely limited due to flickering indicator lights. Even so, I managed a solid run, though another pushback added three seconds, leaving me P25.

Although I expected more, I’m not disappointed. I learned a great deal, especially about committing fully to overtakes. I know I have top-10 pace, and with these lessons, I’m confident we will come back much stronger next season.

The season might be over already but here’s a quick recap of our final race of the season at Karting Genk👇🏻

Victories, top 10s, fast laps and lots of smiles during the last event of the year.

👉🏻On Saturday, both Vercruysse and Keirsebilck gave everything they had in their power to finish upfront but a lack of luck and different penalties saw them close the final in 18th and 31st place respectively.

Moulard on the other hand, did a stunning drive to move up 5 places from qualifying and finish inside the top 6.

Our young gun Hoorelbeke did a magnificent job during all of his races. He finished two out of the three races inside the top ten, which shows the big improvements from this season!

👉🏻On Sunday, our team lined up a staggering seven drivers in the Rotax Junior/ Senior class.

In Rotax Senior, Rauwoens and Mathues has a difficult sequence of races but kept their heads down until the end to finish in 24th and 23rd place. Schoonheere on the other hand moved up 19 (!) places in the final to finish in 9th place while Moulard had a clean sweep on Sunday with pole position in qualifying, two heat wins and the win in the final.

Our junior drivers lacked a bit of experience in rainy conditions but that didn’t keep them away from chasing those top positions! In the end, Van Steenberge closed the final inside the top ten, in 9th place. Georgiev and Vander Schelden made a big step forward again and crossed the line in 11th and 12th place.

That’s it for 2024, we’re already looking forward to a bright new season with lots of successes for our drivers.

Round 5 of the GK4 Kart Series is done and dusted and this is how it went…👇🏻

On Saturday, the team lined-up three drivers of which two Juniors and one Senior Nat.

Vercruysse had a rather challenging weekend but concluded the final in a proper 14th place just an eye-blink away from a top ten finish. Keirsebilck on the other hand drove a stunning final race to grab his first 6th place finish. In X30 Senior Nat., Schoonheere had a difficult time where luck was not on his side. He concluded round five in 10th place.

On Sunday, we had three drivers lining-up in the Rotax category.

Both Mathues and Rauwoens had the pace to fight at the front but a technical failure and an incident, decided otherwise. They finished the final in 13th and 16th place respectively. Vander Schelden finished his weekend with an unfortunate DNF in the final.

The penultimate round on the GK4 Kart Series is just under a month away from now! 👀
