Invite | After moving to the UK, founder @wpharith missed the authentic Malay flavours he grew up with in Malaysia. That longing became the inspiration behind @malayfellas Nearly two decades on, in London’s hospitality industry, he saw how restaurants could elevate the way people experience a cuisine. His ambition was to do the same for Malay cuisine, staying true to its original flavours and cooking methods while refining the overall dining experience. I think he’s done exactly that 🙌🏼 Malay Fellas first opened in Camden in 2021, but Wan Harith always envisioned the restaurant in Queensway. When the opportunity arose in November 2025, he made the move and hasn’t looked back since. Almost everything is made from scratch in-house, from the sambals and spice pastes to the marinades, with many key ingredients imported from Malaysia. A proud milestone came just last week when His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the Immediate Past Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, visited Malay Fellas. A wonderful recognition of everything Wan and his team have worked so hard to build. I’ll definitely be back for the asam pedas and ikan bakar. If you’ve been, let me know what your faves are!

Finally managed to visit @malayfellas by @wpharith in Bayswater London (previously in Camden, open in this new more central location since November 2025) 😃 We had: Starters/ small plates : Kerabu Mangga salad, Sotong Goreng Tepung Mains: Nasi Lemak with fried Chicken, Beehoon Goreng with prawns & Telur Dadar Dessert: none, despite there being a lovely selection - as we were simply too full! Drinks: Teh Ais (Malaysian Milk Tea) x2, Sirap Bandung Worth noting that their Beef is Wagyu 😍 and @malayfellas is fully 💯 Halal Serivce was polite & friendly. Food and drinks arrived swiftly - portions are generous and everything tasted so good & authentic 😋👍 Huge thanks to Jaron for looking after us, and lovely to see @wpharith again & have a little catch up too 😃❤️

If you know, you know… this is the kind of Malaysian food you don’t mess around with 🇲🇾 No gimmicks. No fusion. Just bold, proper flavours that hit you straight in the childhood. Malay Fellas moved from Camden to Bayswater — and it shows. This isn’t their first rodeo. The fried chicken 🍗 (their take on Adam goreng berempah)? Tastes like the ones you’d grab from a pasar malam growing up. Crispy, juicy, dangerously addictive. The nasi lemak 🍚? Fragrant, rich, layered with coconut milk, ginger, pandan leaves… the kind of rice you could eat on its own and still be happy (I certainly was very happy 😋). Ikan bakar & sotong bakar with sambal so shiok, you’ll say "full already!" 🫪… then go back in 5 more times 😂. This isn’t just “good Malaysian food”. This is mum’s cooking. Grandma’s cooking.
