POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A Reuters/Ipsos poll found a third of Americans support a second attempt to execute Christa Pike for her role in killing Colleen Slemmer in 1995.

Gov. Bill Lee hasn’t revealed whether he intends to block that attempt or allow it.

Can we hear the Screamer? Join us for an adventure of disappearing audio and mysterious encounters in middle Tennessee.

Around the campfires of Dickson County, a mostly rural stretch of middle Tennessee, people tell passed-down tales of local cryptids. One of those is the White Bluff Screamer.

Eric Freeman Sims, a cryptid and paranormal expert from a neighboring county, has a documented stories about the Screamer in his book “Small Town Haunts and Legends of Tennessee,” and ”The Unseen Paranormal Podcast.”

In fact, two of Eric’s cousins claim to have seen a glowing woman in white along Trace Creek Road.

Was it the White Bluff Screamer? Nashville Public Radio senior writer @jewlyhight knew she had to see and hear for herself.

This is part of our Appalachia + Mid-South Newsroom cryptid series — follow for regional folk tales about spooky creatures in folklore.

Nature is always reaching out. But will we answer?

From the Appalachia + Mid-South Newsroom, “Calls from the Wild” podcast explores signal species, the effects of human activity on ecosystems and how we can all play a role in maintaining the natural beauty so many of us count on.

And be sure to check out our project on iNaturalist.

Mothman is perhaps the most famous cryptid in the Appalachian region. The legend of this humanoid creature dates back to the 1960s around Point Pleasant, West Virginia when witnesses first reported seeing a large black creature with glowing red eyes and a massive wingspan.

Part of Mothman's history is wrapped up in the Dec. 15, 1967 collapse of the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant that killed 46 people. The bridge collapse gave rise to the theory that Mothman was a harbinger of the coming disaster.

But over the last 50-plus years, Mothman has transformed from a terrifying creature of the night to a bit of a pop culture icon with a statue and annual festival in Point Pleasant.

Yay! Keep this up! Get out and vote!

“Michelle Penucci of Nashville said that she was excited for Jerri Green and Mike Croley in the newly redrawn 6th Congressional District, which includes her neighborhood of Hillsboro Village. Croley faces state Rep. Johnny Garrett, R-Goodlettsville, for the open U.S. House seat.

Penucci said she disagrees with the statehouse’s move to redraw Tennessee’s congressional map.

“The way the gerrymandering has been done, it’s just — it’s outrageous,” Penucci said.

Early voting runs through Oct. 29. Election Day is Nov. 3.”

So on this #SayTheThingSaturday let’s talk about some of the things I’ve said 😬…lol

My first podcast invitations came because of my lived experiences.
Those experiences became the catalyst for growth, learning, healing, and eventually professional expertise.
Now, the invitations often come because of what I know, what I’ve built, and the work I do.
But I never want the credentials to get louder than the person.
The professional may get the invitation.
The person still tells the story.
And I think that’s exactly how it should be. 🎙️
I’ll drop a few episode links below. If you’ve ever wondered how lived experience becomes leadership, these conversations are a pretty good place to start.

Every road leads to a moment when you have to make a choice. Stay where you are or take a chance on what’s waiting on the other side. On October 22nd, I’m dropping my latest single “TAKING THE STEP.”

One decision. No turning back.
