Since deciding NOT to quit my music career, here’s what I’ve been up to lately! It’s been a strange season of working out what the next move is, but lots of lovely things have been happening in the meantime.

This song from my latest EP is about trying not to overthink where a relationship is going, but I think it applies really well for times like this too - “i’m trying to remember I don’t have to overthink every move, just going to lean into dancing in the middle” (wherever it may lead)

I’m so excited for another @writelikeagirluk show! I’ve missed hosting a space where women can share their art. Back when myself @emilyfayemusic and @vicallenmusic put on the first Write Like A Girl tour in 2018 it felt like women really needed a voice in this space. 8 years later so much has changed…but strangely not enough. The statistics are the same. Women are still incredibly underrepresented in songwriting. In a teeny tiny way, I hope Write Like A Girl can bring some hope and joy in this space, and celebrate the incredible creativity women carry ❤️

My name is Ilsa, and i sometimes struggle with my mental health. I love independent UK country music with a passion. This song is by one of my incredible pals in the scene. Her name is @vicallenmusic. Vic and I met in 2019 at @writelikeagirluk writers round in Manchester.

Vic released this song in 2020 and ever since I first heard it, it's been my "safe song" which means whenever I'm having a really shit time, I put "Healing" on and I can feel safe and at peace. it reminds me that even when everything is going wrong, the sun will shine again. Whenever Vic goes live, and I join, she plays it because she knows how much I love this song .

All my family know I love it, and for my 21st birthday, they even bought me handwritten lyrics from Vic, and they are EXQUISITE. (Photo of lyrics at the end of the reel)

Thank you to Vic for writing music i can relate to. I feel like you wrote it just for me and for being a real friend. I love you, angel. 🤍💛

This woman. What an amazing set on Friday night!

@jadehelliwellofficial and I first met in 2019 at the most freezing gig ever at a @writelikeagirluk in Manchester, and we've not seen each other since! Both our families are from the same area and it's really cool.

On Friday, I saw Jade play with her incredible band for the first time, and it was sensational. Jade and I shared a moment in her song, "Woman I Am," where we sang a small part of chorus at the top of our lungs, and while we looked into each other's eyes which was super special.

When we saw each other at the end of the set, I said, "It's a LOT warmer than the last time we see each other!" and she said, "it's the opposite!!"

I fucking adore this woman's soul, energy, empowerment of every woman, her songs, her lyrics and her vocals.

On the 15th of November of 2019, I went to Gullivers in Manchester to the @writelikeagirluk tour. @emilyfayemusic and I met for the first time that night. The girls and I coin that night, "the *freezing* show" and we always have a laugh about how cold it was. It was such a special gig.

Today, she won a huge competition which gives her a huge, massive and incredible opportunity to work with a huge label in the States, and perform for over 8 thousand people.

I'm a little overwhelmed with pride and happiness to see one of my friends and fave artists get a BLOODY amazing life changing opportunity. Emily is such an amazing talent, songwriter, singer and artist. She deserves all the success and I'm so proud to watch her dreams come true.

Good luck with your incredible future, babe! I love you and I'm so indubitably thankful to know you. I'm not crying, you are!!! 😭😭😭
