Black Spuma make their much-anticipated return.

Revered collaborators Lauer and Fabrizio Mammarella unveil their blinding 4-track EP ‘Megamix’ on Mammarella’s own imprint Wrong Era.

Known for their consistently innovative sound, ‘Megamix’ leans into Proto Sensibilities, expanding on a seminal sonic lineage, broadening club boundaries.

‘Das Ende’ opens the release in arcane, anthemic flair. Iconic arps shimmer and lasers punctuate. ‘Glutamania’ brings the acid to the fold, opening with their unmistakable metallic snares and pads soaked in nostalgia for an unknown time. These elements culminate in a synth hook set to ignite minds and warehouse floors.

The title track ‘Megamix’ opens as a hi-energy, vocoder-fuelled triumph. Menacing acid and sweet hats command the mix, driving too flanged fills and augmented dirt. ‘Megamix’ appropriately guides the track, as envelopes unfold and filters crunch.

Transporting you to the energy of their pounding sets, ‘You Might Be Lonely Up Here’ dances with the delicacy of arps and the muscle of bass oscillations. Their familiar mechanical chimes circulate, and long analogue lines fizz.

Black Spuma’s latest offering traverses their honed realms. Dark and pumping, ‘Megamix’ stands as a bold celebration of Black Spuma’s sound. Each track highlighting their signature chemistry, blending distinct influences into a seamless, forward-thinking journey. As they continue to push boundaries and redefine their sound, ‘Megamix’ cements Black Spuma’s status as sonic luminaries.

Fans of turbocharged Italo, it’s time to rejoice – @blackspuma_ are back. ⚡️

Since 2015, the German/Italian duo of @lauerlauer and @fabriziomammarella – each a serious producer in his own right – have released a handful of sparkling EPs, remixes and one full-length album, while their latest offering, the four-track Megamix EP, is out on October 9 via Mammarella’s own label @wrong_era_berlin 🎶

While Black Spuma’s music has always been based around the bright melodies and vintage sonics of Italo disco, the new release features some of their toughest music yet, from the gritty acid of Das Ende and Megamix to the colossal, near-industrial kicks and snares of Glutamania. There’s a measure of respite with the shuffling groove and ecstatic sonics of the closing You Might Be Lonely Up Here, but with all four tracks pushing 130bpm, Megamix is unquestionably as intense as Black Spuma have ever been. ❤️‍🔥
