Dedicating these push-ups on the 5th anniversary of the loss of USMC Major Trey Willett - Son, brother, uncle #operationiraqifreedom
Brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon who was like a brother to Pi Kappa Alpha
Day 2992 (8+ years) - 65,824 push-ups for Veteran Suicide Awareness
"We'd like to take a moment here to honor the life of a tremendous man who is a good friend of ours. To some he was Edward J. Willett Ill, or Special Agent Willett during his time in Federal law enforcement, or Major Willett during his time proudly serving our country in the U.S. Marine Corps, but to those of us who knew him and cared for him, he was Trey. They say only the good die young, well if you knew him during his 48 years of life, you knew how true that was. He was a good man. He cared for others more than himself. None was more evident than his actions on 9/11 when he was assigned to the Pentagon when it was hit by one of the planes. Trey, who was a Captain at the time, despite the chaos, ran in and out of the building numerous times getting others to safety despite the risk to himself. For his actions that day he was awarded the Navy/ Marine Corps medal of heroism, a high honor This proud patriot then demanded (respectfully of course) he be transferred back to the field to lead Marines into Iraq. After much persistence, he was granted permission and off he went. After serving his tours he would then return to the US, but would continue serving his country as a Special Agent for one of the major Federal law enforcement agencies. He wasn’t perfect, as nobody is, and he did come back from his time serving abroad dealing with some stuff, as so many of our servicemen and women have. It’s the wounds you can’t see that are sometimes the worst. Despite his inner turmoil, you’d be hard pressed to find a more selfless and genuine person. I wish there was more that could’ve been done. I wish he were still here, but the Lord decided it was time to call him home. PTSD is a real thing and we need to care for those suffering in silence... these push-ups are dedicated to the younger sister of one of my Fraternity brothers @wvupikes who lost her mental health struggle June 20, 2020. Gone too soon at age 44

Day 2954 - 64,988 push-ups for Veteran and Civilian Suicide

Tricia was a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and teacher. I honor you today with push-ups in front of the library 🙏🙏🙏
Every day 22+ Veterans and 1 Active Duty Soldier take their own lives. Burdened with the stigma associated with mental health issues and the military “shame” surrounding PTS (Post Traumatic Stress), they instead turn to suicide as their only option to relieve suffering.

sad fact #suicide is the number 2 cause of death among Americans between the ages of 10 and 34

In the United States, Men make up 50% of the population and almost 80% of the Suicides.

Every day 22+ Veterans and 1 Active Duty Soldier take their own lives.
