Gameday! We’ve got some fun games tonight including two huge rivalry games that impact the conference championship race big time! The premier game of the night has gotta be Edwardsburg heading to rival Niles! While the Eddie’s are eliminated, Niles is still in the race for a conference title… however, if Edwardsburg can beat Niles tonight the Vikings are eliminated from title contention! Lots and stake tonight in this rivalry matchup between two very solid squads! Our other rivalry matchup is a bit less exciting but still important as Plainwell and Otsego will face off! This would usually be the biggest matchup of the night based off the rivalry alone but coming into this one Otsego has lost 5 straight and looked horrific. We’ve seen the Bulldogs take down top opponents before such as when they beat Paw Paw, however if they play tonight how they have played as of late they will NOT beat Plainwell. Another big time game though as if Otsego can pull off the upset they will derail Plainwells conference championship hopes… Vicksburg will host Sturgis! A fun matchup as both teams are hunting win milestones tonight! With a Vicksburg win they reach the 10 win mark on the season which is a very impressive feat considering their SOS this year! For Sturgis they are currently tied with their win total from last year at 4 a piece… everyone knows this Sturgis squad is much improved then last year and a win here could make it official! Should be a fun one! Finally Paw Paw will look to keep the wins coming in as they play Three Rivers tonight! Paw Paw needs to win this tonight as if Plainwell and Niles are beat that title is practically there’s. However if they lose that leaves the door open for Plainwell or Niles to come up and tie Paw Paw for a conference title! For Three Rivers they played some of their best ball of the year last game against Otsego and they need to keep this momentum going as they head into playoffs!

Gameday!! We’ve got our last all Wolverine conference slate of 2024! Three Rivers will host Otsego! These are two teams that have had very up and down seasons so a win for either team could help stabilize the ship and get them on the right track. Otsego seems to be getting better every week as those young guns adjust to varsity play and Three Rivers seems to have the talent to compete just hasn’t yet put it all together… gonna be fun to see these two compete tonight! Vicksburg will travel to Plainwell! This is a must win for Vicksburg… coming into this Vicksburg has dropped 2 straight and been ice cold… and with a tall task in Plainwell standing infront of them this could be a chance to get the season back on track… for Plainwell they failed in their first real test against Paw Paw, and outside of them this will be their toughest test of the season so far. If Plainwell wants to be known as a serious contender for a conference title a win over Vicksburg could be a solid stepping stone for that. The two leaders in conference play will go head to head tonight as Paw Paw will host Niles! This game originally would have been the game of the day by far however with the absence of Kirtdoll and Olsen for the Vikings I’m not sure how competitive this one could be… Niles does have the opportunity to make a massive statement if they could pull off the win tonight. Finally Edwardsburg will look to keep the good times rolling as they host Sturgis! This is the battle of two great offenses and I’m excited to see it! Sturgis has struggled greatly with defense this year and tonight they will have to turn it up a notch if they want any chance to beat the 1 loss Eddies!

We’re so back. That’s right lady’s and gentleman. It’s been a long 265 days since we’ve had men’s basketball but we are back TONIGHT with two great games! Niles will travel to Three Rivers once again, this time for men’s basketball! While Niles will be playing this game without the help of all conference starter Brenden Olsen, this should be a great game nonetheless! Three Rivers didn’t have the best season last year however they are full of talent and this could be their chance to make a statement that this year will NOT be a repeat of last season! And of course for Niles they’ve listened to all the doubters (including me) all off season long and are ready to show that they are here to stay as a hoops power! We’ve got a game that Mike Vick would be so proud of. Battle of the bulldogs tonight as Vicksburg will travel to Otsego! This is going to be a very interesting game as Vicksburg is full of talent and this off season they added hall of fame head coach Randy Small! Meanwhile Otsego lost a LOT due to graduation so they are an enigma in the conference right now. We don’t know much about Otsego but we will learn a lot about them tonight for sure! Should be a fun one tonight!

Our Wolverine Conference Network pre season all conference teams and player of the year! For this we used the conferences basic selection criteria, 5 on 1st team, 6 on 2nd team and a HM/“Player to watch” from each team and I went the route of going 2 guards, 2 forwards and a center for each team with the 2nd team having a “flex” player! Our pre-season player of the year is the dynamic all around player from our #1 ranked team Edwardsburg Brody Schimpa! Brody had a very good argument to be called the best player last season and with another off season under his belt and now being a senior, he is our pre season player of the year!

We have an AMAZING slate of out of conference games tonight great chance for a lot of teams to make some serious noise before heading into playoffs! Niles will take on Beton Harbor at their place! These two most recently matched up last year in the playoffs where Niles took the W 65-61. Benton Harbor this year is widely regarded as one of the best teams in the state so if Niles wants to repeat last year they will have to play their best basketball of the season! Vicksburg will host Portage Central! PC is another team touted as one of the best in the area so a win for the Bulldogs would be massive here! Vicksburg has proved they can compete with teams “better” then them so I have no doing this will be a very good game! Plainwell will host former conference hoops power house Gull Lake! While they are far removed from their early 2010’s dominance Gull Lake is still not a team to take lightly and a win for Plainwell would be massive here. The Eddie’s will play host to SMAC power Lakeshore! The conference has already had 2 bouts with lakeshore this season in which Otsego and Niles both defeated them. Edwardsburg will look to continue the trend however Lakeshore has done a complete 180 since those games. Since the back to back losses to Niles and Otsego they have gone 9-2 with there only 2 losses coming to Kzoo Central and Benton Harbor… should be a fun one tonight in the Burg! Otsego will host Lakeview! Lakeview has a very talented squad this year as well saw them absolutely dismantle Sturgis over the holiday break…. Should be a great game though as we all know Otsego is no slouch! Finally Three Rivers will hit the road and take on Parchment! Parchments 12-9 record is misleading as even with a good record like that they are far better. They have been missing players all season and assuming they are all back tonight this should be an uphill battle for Three Rivers.

Tons of important and interesting games this week as we’ve finally reached the final week of the regular season 🥲 Monday Sturgis will travel to play Bronson… I’ll be honest I don’t have the highest hopes for this game but go Sturgis! Tuesday is absolutely full of interesting games! Niles will travel to play powerhouse Benton Harbor! These two teams faced off last year in the playoffs where Niles shocked the world and beat them! Should be a very fun game! Also noted is Lakeview @ Otsego two great teams going at it this should be a very good game! Also we get a playoff preview as Edwardsburg hosts Lakeshore! These two will face off in a week again at Edwardsburg in the playoffs so this should be a very fun preview of what’s to come! Wednesday is two make up games as Sturgis hosts rival White Pigeon and Plainwell takes on Pennfield! Friday of course is where the conference championship will be decided! Niles can win the title outright if they beat Plainwell AND Otsego falls to Paw Paw! However, Otsego beats Paw Paw and Plainwell is able to upset Niles they will do their bitter rival Otsego a huge favor and give them a share of the conference title! Will be very fun to see how this night plays out and if Otsego will root for their rival Plainwell! Another game that should be fun is rivals Three Rivers and Sturgis matching up! Neither of these teams had great seasons but 1 final matchup and 1 final regular season game for the year should make this a fun battle!

It’s the best type of Gameday… a Wolverine conference Gameday! All in conference matches today! Vicksburg will travel to Plainwell. This is one of the most evenly matched games of the day as both teams have proven to be solid teams but are both still trying to make it to the next level. A win here could light the spark for either team to heat up heading into post season play! Niles will travel to Paw Paw. On paper this may seem like a wash game however, remember last time these two faced off at Niles, Paw Paw pushed them to the brink and to the very last second before falling 3 points… very interesting to see how these teams matchup this time around. Otsego will travel to the Purple Palace and take on Three Rivers! Otsego is hungrier then ever following the loss to Edwardsburg and is chasing Niles for the conference championship. Huge game for them as they try to add another win to their conference total. Edwardsburg will host Sturgis! Edwardsburg has been on fire recently and they are looking for there 5th straight win heading into a huge rivalry matchup with Niles! Every win counts for the Eddies as while they still have a chance, they are on the outside looking in for the conference championship race!

Happy Friday yall! Some great matchups tonight and a few teams have their winter homecomings! Edwardsburg will host Otsego for there winter homecoming! Big night for both teams as the Eddies will look to claim a great win over a great team! For Otsego this can just be another fantastic win to add to their resume over a very solid Edwardsburg squad! Should be a fun one! Plainwell will travel to Paw Paw! Both of these teams have been very up and down all year so a win tonight could be a great reset point as we near the end of the season! Very excited to see how the Plainwell defense plans to take on the challenge of Paw Paws guard play! Niles will host Sturgis for their winter homecoming! Sturgis has been fairly bad too say the least this year. Should be a win for Niles but, Sturgis has shown they can compete with any team in the conference! Will be interesting to see how Sturgis does on the road against a very very good team with an electric crowd. Three Rivers will host Vicksburg! Vicksburg has been up and down all year and after once looking like a dark horse for the conference title after they thumped Portage Northern, they now search for a win to bring them to 8-10. For Three Rivers this is an opportunity to make some serious noise and show the rest of the conference they are a threat by knocking off a solid Vicksburg squad. Stay safe if your doing something post homecoming yall don’t do anything stupid !
