The Wabash Valley College Warriors were back on the water today at a different venue with part two of the McKendree University Fall Invitationals. Today proved to be a tougher day for the Warriors overall. Leading the way with four solid keepers was Wyatt Becker and Zac Corell. They had 10.23 lbs good for 3rd place and some solid points for the Warriors. Several other anglers were able to capture one keeper to bring to the scales. The Warriors hit the classroom for three days this week then it’s off to Russellville, Arkansas for the @aftco Open with @collegiatebass We appreciate all the support from our sponsors, family, and the @wabashvalleycollege to be able to do this.

The Wabash Valley College Bass Warriors wrapped up a week and half road trip that included ten consecutive days of fishing, four tournaments, eight national championship qualifications, and a lot of learning and memories. Friday, the Warriors competed in an MLF Columbia PFG College event on Lake Guntersville. As is usual, if you don’t smash them on Guntersville, you get a hand shake and a thank you for playing. Leading the way for the Warriors and getting our second top ten in the week was freshmen Thomas Newman and Blake Locey. They had 23 lbs 13 oz good for 3rd place out of 250 boats. They punched their ticket for the MLF National Championship to be held in February on Toledo Bend. Grant Nore and Owen Nepple had a fantastic tournament finishing 33rd (inside natty cut line) with 19 lbs 2 oz. Wyatt Becker and Emmarie Bires had another solid tournament with 18 lbs 1 oz and 49th place. Lane Argo and Kyson Bradley had 16 lbs 12 oz good for 74th place. After some boat issues on Tuesday, Will Cali and Wyatt Stamper bounced back with 16 lbs 9 oz good for 79th place. Tyler Curry and Brody Elliott wrapped up the top 100 with 15 lbs 10 oz.

Wilson / Leak had 14-4 for 138th
Corell / Blazier had 13-15 for 143rd

Russell / Olsen had 13-12 for 150th

Oakes / Lobek had 11-2 for 182nd
Dunlap / Fehr had 11-1 for 183rd
Price / Moore had 5-14 for 217 (boat issues led to late penalty and loss of some weight)

Thank you to our many sponsors for making this dream a reality for our anglers. We could not do it with you all. Be sure to come out this coming Wednesday to Spencer Sports Center at 5:30 pm to meet many of the anglers and to see their boats. It’s Meet the Warriors night. We will be selling pork burgers, chips and a drink. The archery team will all be on hand as well. Plan to stay around and watch the Lady Warriors Volleyball play at 6:30 pm. It is always a great time. See you all soon!!

The lack of sunshine on ‘ol Kentucky Lake Tuesday was actually a welcome sight to many of our anglers who made good on a challenging bite, punching their ticket to the 2027 MLF College National Championship. Our top team qualified for their second time in 2026 and we had five additional teams secure a naty qualification which is scheduled in February 2027 on Toledo Bend.

Leading the way for the Warriors was Lane Argo and Kyson Bradley. They had a limit of bass weighing 16 lbs 9 oz and finished 10th out of 233 boats. The Warriors had two more teams inside the top twenty with freshman Wyatt Becker and sophomore Emmarie Bires weighing in 15 lbs 12 oz good for 15th and Zac Corell and Sam Ausbrooks weighing 15 lbs 1 oz good for 19th place. Grace Olsen and Hunter Russell had 14 lbs 11 oz good for 22nd, Briar Crain and Jase Turnis will make their first national championship appearance as they weighed in 12 lbs 9 oz good for 38th place and our final team to get in the naty cut was Grayson Wilson, who fished solo in the tournament weighing in 12 pounds 4 oz good for 41st place (shout out to Ty Leak sitting this one out so Grayson could try to qualify; Ty qualified with Caden Pearson in the spring so he is already tied to Caden and could not be in the boat if Grayson wanted to qualify. Thanks Ty!)

Tucker Oakes and Cooper Lobek had 11 lbs 5 oz and finished in 50th which is still in the top 25% of the tournament field. Thomas Newman and Blake Locey had 7 lbs 15 oz for 84th place, Brody and Braci Ault had 7 lbs 7 oz for 89th place, Tyler Curry and Brody Elliott had 7 lbs 5 oz for 91st place, Lucas Hodge and Zane Barthelemy 5 lbs 5 oz for 115th and Grant Nore and Owen Nepple had 2 lbs 13 oz for 153rd place. We had three additional teams that were not able to secure a keeper during tournament hours.

Congrats to all of our qualifiers. I believe this is the highest number of teams we have qualified in one event. The Warriors will be back in action this Friday on Lake Guntersville with @mlfbig5official @columbiapfg College Series

One of the really cool things about college fishing is the support provided to the anglers by many of the companies with the fishing industry. Big thanks to @collegiatebass and @thmarineteam for their generous donation to our tournament. We were able to “pay out” through 11 places including items like G-Juice, Tackle Titan Fishing Lure Rack, Prop Stop and Wrench, and some Wave Away Screen Cleaner and TH Marine Hats. Thanks so much!!

Huge shout out to the Hanging Rock Bass Club for their continued support of the Wabash Valley College Bass Team. From the youth day at Beall Woods, to the Make a Wish program, and up through our college team, this local group of anglers is always willing to serve to help the next generation of anglers pursue their dreams. We appreciate your support and the encouragement you always provide to our anglers.

If you’ve ever had an interest in tournament bass fishing and want to give it a go sometime, reach out to one of the members in Hanging Rock (based out of Mt. Carmel); they are always open to taking on new members.
