Go back 15 years and you’ll find them together on the sidelines of one of their brothers’ soccer games. From those early days until now, Skylar Olson has always treated Bryce as an equal. She has always made sure Bryce is included, effortlessly creating a sense of belonging and treating him and everyone she meets with genuine respect, kindness, and grace. Her actions are also a beautiful testament to her mother, Susan Olson, and her brother, Wyatt Olson, a family that leads with kindness, empathy, and a deeply inclusive mindset. Skylar’s commitment to Bryce is best captured by a promise she made to him years ago: that she would go to prom with him. That evening gave Bryce and our entire family a memory we will never forget! It was wonderful to see Skylar and her family this past weekend as she prepares to head off to college this September at Flagler College. For 15 years, this remarkable young woman has shown me something important: inclusion is how we make people feel. It’s who we make room for. It’s the promises we keep. And sometimes, it’s simply being a friend. Skylar, I hope you know that just as you have always been there for Bryce, I will always be there for you and your family. Because of who you are and your selfless act, I will forever have your back!!!!
