Each year I try to plan two European ski trips, and this year we landed in Alpe d’Huez, France at Club Med. March 7-15/2026.
Our usual tight-knit crew exploded to 50 people. Word is definitely out about the Ski Alcoholics, led by the one and only Fritz🇨🇭
One of the reasons I love doing a Club Med ski trip in Europe is your lift ticket and ski guide are included. Our guide this year was exceptional. He seemed to know every hidden trail, every perfect run, and somehow always timed it so we were skiing the best snow on the mountain. And there’s no chance of me getting lost😂
Alpe d’Huez is one of the great resorts in the French Alps, over 155 miles of pistes, high-altitude terrain up to 11,000 ft, and the kind of panoramic views that make you stop mid run just to take it all in. They even call it “L’Île au Soleil” the Island of the Sun, because it gets so much light.
French food never disappoints, and the spa treatments here are still some of the best I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. And the Hammam steam room…. my skin has never felt smoother.
Every morning I opened the curtains to a different version of spectacular.
And the snow definitely delivered. Two of the days we woke up to storms that dropped over a foot of new powder. Then, almost as if it were planned the skies cleared just in time for our departure. Our bus wound down the mountain via 21 legendary hairpin turns (this is where they hold the Tour de France) descending nearly 2,000 ft.
One of the things I love most about skiing in Europe is the international mix of people. In my ski group we had someone who lives in Lebanon, Turkey, Paris and Saint-Tropez. I usually see many people from Israel, but this year because of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the hotel had around 450 cancellations😏Still, the mountains have a way of bringing people together from everywhere, different languages, different cultures, and one shared love…Skiing🇫🇷⛷️❄️
