Happy Heavenly Mother’s Day to the woman who gave me life, love, strength, wisdom, and a place to always call home. 🤍

This picture was taken on my wedding day… one of the last major milestones I got to share with my mother before she passed away just 6 months to the day of this picture being taken. Some days I still can’t believe she’s gone. It’s been 2 years, but seems like I was with her just yesterday.

Losing my mother has changed me in ways I can’t fully explain. I used to call her every day on my drive home from work. No matter what was happening in life, I knew I could call my Mom. And now there’s this silence where her voice used to be. A kind of grief that feels like being untethered from your past, your comfort, yourself.

What makes this season even harder is knowing my last child, Gracie graduates next week, the only grandchild my mother won’t get to watch walk across the stage. I can’t talk to her about how happy and proud I am or how sad I am that I’m going to be an empty nester. And what makes it even more emotional is that Gracie carries her name. She was named after my mother, Grace. It hurts knowing the woman whose name she carries won’t physically be there to witness this milestone. I know she would’ve been so proud, so excited. She always said she hoped to live to see her last grandchild graduate.

People tell you grief gets easier, but nobody really prepares you for what life feels like when your mother is no longer here. Nobody prepares you for reaching for the phone to call her… or wanting to tell her something or ask a question and realizing you can’t. My Mom used to always introduce me to people and say, “this is Grachelle, my baby daughter, the one who gave me so many grandkids”. Oh, how I miss being her baby!😢

So today, if your mother is still here, cherish her. Call her. Hug her longer. Ask the questions. Record her voice. Spend the time. Love her loudly while you still can.

And to everyone spending Mother’s Day missing their mother, I see you and you’re not alone. 🤍

I miss and love you so much Bunny and FYI, you were right..about just about everything!🕊️

I came home from work today tired.
Not burned out, just full.

And instead of pushing through, scrolling, or jumping into the next task, I chose this.

Play.
Laughter.
Movement.
Joy.

Intentional living isn’t just about goals, boundaries, or discipline.
It’s about choosing moments that restore you…especially after long days.

Most people are exhausted because their lives leave no room for joy on purpose.

You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t have to earn joy.

If you’re ready to stop living on default and start living by design, follow @grachellesherburne_lcsw

Sometimes the most powerful reminders come from the quiet wisdom of someone who’s lived a full life.

A big thank-you to @wynterraee for sharing this message from Kirk - it’s something that really makes you pause and reflect.

Here’s what stuck with me:
One of the best ways to honor the people we’ve lost...is to live the life they’d want for us.
And that starts with taking care of the body we’ve been given.

Not in some grand, over-the-top way - just the basics:
Sleep. Water. Movement. Food that fuels you.
Taking a deep breath. Giving yourself a little grace.

You don’t have to overhaul your life today.
But maybe just pick one small way to care for yourself.
Not out of pressure, but out of respect.

For the ones we’ve loved.
And for the life we still get to live.

Thanks again, Wynter…and thank you, Kirk, for the quiet reminder.
