I constantly think about the butterfly effect🦋 Had I never gone to that music festival in 2015, would I have found my way to flow arts?

Thank God I did - the first photo is @the_poital / @the_poital and me, freshly out of high school in 2015, with no way of knowing what future we could have together (how we did a whole festival with barely any water in the Georgia sun is beyond me 😅)

As an afab person growing up in the south, of course I was raised to cover my skin. I had an H&M tank top on and American Eagle shorts in the first photo, and I remember being SO genuinely concerned with possibly offending someone with my ~exposed~ skin

I wish I felt more happiness looking at the first photo, but truthfully, all I feel is sadness of girls and women and femmes and everyone else who is raised to dull their light/ hide their skin because of someone else's preference (more so, insecurities)

It's moments like at @fahrenheitflowarts where I'm able to reflect on, not only my current abilities, but where it all came from. I would've never pictured myself doing what I do know when I was 18. Furthermore, I can imagine pitching this scenario to any woman that came before me in my family. For that, I am so grateful and proud.

** This post was heavily inspired by my sister @x.ehra and her unapologetic ability to speak her truth 💜

Highlights from the @fahrenheitflowarts fire circle 🔥

Had a lovely time capturing the spinners of Fahrenheit flow festival in September! I traveled from California to West Virginia, which was definitely a send both financially and energetically.

This was my first time on the eastern side of the U.S., so I got to connect with a lot of new faces and experience the regional differences. Being a part of the media team for the festival was helpful in feeling more integrated in the experience.

Hope you enjoy the photos! I have them all available upon request, so let me know if you’re featured in them and would like them. Videos are on the way soon. Also any help tagging the flow artists would be appreciated 🙏

More coming soon 🫡

The first time I heard this song, I knew I wanted to choreograph something embodying the centripetal force I have with this initial stall - either with dragon staff or pole

Thank you @fahrenheitflowarts for giving me the platform to dedicate this piece to the opportunities flow arts and movement has given me - I'm leaving this weekend feeling so rejuvenated and inspired

Dragon staff was my gateway drüg in 2019 that, it not only encouraged more forms of dance and movement; it opened up community, connection, and expressing musicality in new and exciting ways. As a musician at my foundation, this piece marries my loves of music and movement.
