SOMEWHERE BETWEEN:
NYTW WORKSHOP
New York, NY| March 26th-April 1st 2025

Something that @nyomistewart and I talk about immensely is how we come from GOOD PEOPLE. “Everyone is just trying to survive, everyone is just trying to swim…” I’m grateful to be continually swimming alongside you in this whirlpool/storm/hurricane of L I F E. Thank you for choosing me, seeing me and trusting me with your heart/your soul/your words.

To @patriciamcgregor and everyone apart of the New York Theatre Workshop community, thank you for believing in this story; and blessing two emerging creatives from daSOUTH with this level of support, trust, and belief.

To our cast and creative team, this work is rooted in community. And community is rooted in humanity. Forever grateful for the humanity you all brought to these characters and the world we are building. You all challenged us deeply and invigorated my directorial practice…”from a dramaturgical perspective…” (IYKYK).
Thank you for being apart of SOMEWHERE BETWEEN in this evolving journey of becoming.

“amen.”

All Love,
Tramaine Raphael Gray

"in case we forget" was performed for the first time last week at Movement Makers in La Mesa. sooo grateful for in person shows. to connect with a live audience, and be in community with other dancers and is something i've truly missed.

this duet will be expanded upon and performed again later in November at the Mingei International Museum and at Liberty Station in Point Loma. more details coming soon ✨

A few more Journal Entry stills, with a shout out to the wonderful Cornish dancers who collaborated on this project. I so appreciate their commitment, dedication, patience (lots of camera placement changes and lighting challenges) and intelligence that they brought to each green screen shoot! @seaflo99 @giordanafalzone @the.ryce.era @callan_aster @tinytr2ntup

My name is Maya Toczek and I’m a senior dance major. I’m currently working on my capstone solo, choreographed by Gilbert T. Small II for the dance BFA concert on February 22nd at 8pm and February 23rd at 5pm at the Cornish Playhouse.
I have loved every moment of this process and am extremely grateful for Gilbert’s dedication and support throughout. I am also grateful to Sebastian Arredondo @sebastian_dondo for curating the music I am performing to - without the edited sound, the piece wouldn’t be complete. The music and movement are interwoven, and I love every aspect of this artistic creation.
