Hello!🦀🦀

Over the past four months, we have devoted our free time to creating this short introductory piece to the world of Crabhunters.

With this animation, we wanted to show a side of the Crabhunters world that we had not revealed before. It is a more serious side, where superstition, religion, politics, and power intertwine. The story of Crabhunters is not only the story of two brothers who hunt giant crabs, but also the story of the world that surrounds them, a world currently undergoing the greatest revolution in living memory.

This one-minute animation is filled with details and symbolism that we will gradually explain over time as we revisit it, allowing you to discover new layers of meaning.

Hopefully, seeing the brothers at the end of the short brought you some relief, comfort, or even a small smile. We would love that, because it would mean that you are beginning to feel a certain familiarity with them.

Although small in size, this has been a challenging project.

To make it happen, we had to average roughly two shots per week, animate in a style where digital shortcuts often worked against us, and constantly keep the scope grounded in what two people could realistically achieve.

We had to compose our own music too, which, if you check the first crabhunters post, you might notice it's a version of the same leitmotif.

Everything you see in this video is still a first pass. Crabhunters is a living project, and many of these designs, ideas, and locations will continue to evolve as the world grows alongside us.

Even so, we're incredibly proud that we were able to create this. At a time when AI-generated content is becoming more and more common, we chose to embrace a slower process, one built on patience, consistency, and countless hours stolen from evenings, weekends, and spare moments throughout already busy days.

It's not a perfect project, but it's ours, and it makes us so happy to share it with you.

Now it's time for the algorithm to decide its luck online, but if you do watch it, please let us know what you think, what you liked best or if you have any theories!

Hey everyone! 🦀🦀

By sharing these posts, we also want to show what our worldbuilding process looks like.

Leather bags might not be as epic as giant crabs or biomechanical vehicles, but they are a perfect exercise for developing the world and visual style of the project.

As a worldbuilding and concept art exercise, we tried to simplify the core identity of the project down to a single theme: CRABS. So what do things look like when everything revolves around crabs?

Small items like these bring worlds to life, and we would encourage everyone to try designing similar things.

Craftsmanship is at the core of our project, so we had a lot of fun designing these, and we learned so much about the world we're creating.

We hope you like them and have fun spotting the different crab-inspired details! You'll notice that some of them don't have obvious crab elements, we'll talk about what they represent in future post.

If anyone here works with leather and creates something based on any of these designs, please share it with us, we'd love to see it!

This is an introductory video to our latest project, CRABHUNTERS. Let yourself be immersed in this new world, its lore and secrets, following the life and adventures of two crabhunter brothers.

@crabhunters.project is an account we created to keep all the work about the project in one place. As the project progresses you can expect this page to be home for many 2d and 3d concept art, information about this new world and a chance to see how we develop a project.

Our first goal with Crabhunters is to create an animated short film and we want to share the process of this creation with you. If it will grow to become something bigger or not, only time will tell, but let's enjoy the ride together!
