I’m standing here holding my foot to my head.
Some will call it yoga.
Some will call it flexibility.
Some will call it impressive.

But the real question is not what this pose is.

The real question is:
What has yoga become?

20–30 years ago, yoga was yoga.
Gymnastics was gymnastics.
Fitness was fitness.

Now everything is blended.

Yoga became transitions.
Yoga became choreography.
Yoga became diversity.
Yoga became fancy mats, fancy outfits, fancy bottles.
Yoga became an industry.

Did it bring yoga closer to people?

Yes.
And no.

Yes — because millions now experience release, movement, sweat, community.

No — because depth was diluted.

The same release you feel in a yoga class
you can feel in the gym.
Or Pilates.
Or gymnastics.

Yoga was never about sweat.
Never about flexibility.
Never about performance.

Yoga is about depth.
Structure.
Awareness.
Inner alignment.

Yoga is the opposite of performance.

And social media rewards performance.

So what people call yoga today
is often not yoga,
not fitness,
not gymnastics —

but a hybrid built for attention.

And still — there is something beautiful about yoga going global.

There is always light and shadow.

The question is not whether yoga evolved or died.

The question is:
What are you practicing?

If you want depth, it still exists.
Real teachers still exist.
But you must choose depth over trend.

Yoga begins with intention.

Not performance.

Not popularity.

Not flexibility.

Intention.

Just hanging out with friends at the Green last Sunday. @missy.yurash and I were saying hello when all the sudden @morgangerhard and @kailynnn were flying behind us haha. You never now what is going to happen at the beach. If you want to do a shoot with me, hit me up and we can get creative. I do shoots for $200/hr. That includes the shoot and my time editing. ✨️🤗🌴. #santamonica #acrocommunity #acroyoga #santamonicapier #fitness
