Dear Junior Lacrosse,

I’ve been thinking about what I’ve been going to say at the end of my 5 years since this season started and I always had the thought about how this speech would end. I would think about sitting down writing this not after a win but after a loss, but as the season progressed the belief and confidence kept increasing and outweighing all the negative thoughts. There was never a doubt going into any game this season but the thoughts of defeat would come in every once in a while.

When that final buzzer went off the first thing that came to mind was that I couldn’t believe we actually did it but after taking the proper time to reflect, it was all meant to be. This group had been manifesting this championship since the year before and it wasn’t just the mentality this group had that made us great, it was the willingness to go out everyday and give 100% for your boys. One thing as a leader, you learn is you need to get everyone on board and pulling on the same rope, there was very little deviation from the plan all year.

To my teammates, thank you for making coming to the rink everyday the best part of each day. I knew that every time I walked through the doors that it was going to be the best part of the day. You’re all my brothers and family for life.

To my coaches, thank you for taking a chance on me back in the 2022 draft. It was always my personal goal to play JR. A lacrosse in the red, white and, black. The coaching I received the last 5 years have continued to shape me into the lacrosse player and man I have become today.

To my family, thank you for all the sacrifices you’ve made to watch my games, cook pregame meals and help keep me healthy. I love all you guys and the support never went unnoticed.

To be the first ever Alberta team to win a Minto Cup will forever be remembered in lacrosse history and I’m extremely honoured to be part of that. I couldn’t write a more perfect story book ending to my junior career than to be crowned a national champion. Let’s go Raider Nation!!
