The cast of MACBETH were lucky to meet Brisbane based actor Gabriel Wighton in rehearsals today, who came in to chat about his journey from graduate actor to professional artist.

Gabe has had a strong start to his career, with great things on the horizon, and the cast were truly grateful for his generosity of time and spirit in his conversations with them today.

This is what theatre is about: community.

Well… MACBETH is sold out after less than a week and a half on sale.

That makes my head spin. THANK YOU to everyone who booked - the team and I are so grateful and can’t wait to see you.

This production is the culmination of 9 years of studying and working with Shakespeare’s writing.

I’ve directed bits and bobs of his work in that time, coached many full scale productions, lectured and taught verse technique, and directed readings of his long form poems. Add to that my years training with Patsy and a PhD on Shakespearean rhetoric as well, and you kinda start see that this production has been a long time coming.

With all of that said, this is my first time directing a full Shakespeare play.

Am I a bit scared? Sure 🫠
But am I chomping at the bit in every rehearsal? Double sure.

I have so many thoughts and ideas to test, and it’s such a relief to finally have the chance to take a leap of faith and see where they take the work.

We’re working on adding more seats to each performance, so if you missed out, stand by!

Knock! Knock! Knock! Who’s there? Faith, here’s a play you don’t wanna miss. This will be the last time at APAC that I get to share the stage with these amazing, hard working people. And we’re going out with a banger ⚔️🗡️🩸

I started my year off with Shakespeare, very happy to be ending the year off on stage with it. This will also be my last year on stage as a student and what a great cast to share the stage with. I've grown immensely with the support of all my classmates and lecturers. Next year I embark to make the stage my only home, but as Shakespeare once said "All the world's a stage".

BLOOD WILL HAVE BLOOD

I’m thrilled to be working with the graduating cohort at @apacbrisbane on my adaptation of Shakespeare’s MACBETH.

This has been in the works for about a year, and it is pure bliss to work on this show every week.

Tickets are FREE, bookings are essential. See you in November.

MACBETH
By Williams Shakespeare
Adapted and directed by Marcus Oborn

Battle hardened Macbeth encounters three figures on a blasted heath who promise the hope of royal ascension. As ambition seeps into his skull like a parasite, the days grow longer and darker as the shadow of a heavy fate approaches Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

Blood will have blood.

OUTSET. I feel so grateful to be apart of this incredible project. Every day in the rehearsal room and every day on set felt so special. There was so much passion that went into this project, watching every department work and put their heart into this was truly such an inspiring experience. I’m so proud of what we created together. See you all in February! 👀🩸
