@mrboogiet is one of my all-time favorites, so seeing him at @theavelive this week was a full-body, core-memory, bones-still-rattling experience. 🥵🥵

I’m pretty sure that bass rewired my DNA and will continue vibrating through me for at least one lifetime. I genuinely think I danced harder than I ever have, and that’s saying a LOT, because I always throw down. 😂

‼️HISTORY WAS MADE‼️ because I finally got to dance with @ravewizardchris ’s orb 🔮 ! Those 12 seconds are the extent of my footage from the Boogie T set because 🥵.

I saw and danced with SO many familiar faces, and I can’t even put into words how heart-filling that is. To be recognized. To be welcomed. To be loved in the middle of chaos, sweat, bass, and joy. The family I needed but never had. The people who see me at my absolute weirdest, most feral, most unfiltered… and pull me in closer anyway. (Seriously, SO many hugs 🫶)

The night kicked off with @yuckidubz , who got absolutely nasty (see what I did there? 😏), then @austeriaofficial took us straight into wub-world, and @thisiscyclops delivered a full-on head-banger of a set….exactly as expected.

Casey Club ( @caseyclubofficial), skrillex ( @skrillex) and LYNY ( @lynyofficial) yes chef told me were his top 3 favorite bass music producers

"I think music in general is very connected to divinity" he told me

"Bass music to me is like a religious practice, I worship bass because music transcends and can have a profound impact on people’s lives when you put positive energy into it."

But moreover for Yes Chef it's also an earthly sound. To him "It’s just a more unique sound, it rewards creativity instead of sounding like everything else, and that reflects into the crowd and the fans"

Meaning the not usual 4/4 of house music. Not the same kick drum over and over. In bass music there are sounds that are unique to an individual. It's like when we hear skrillex we know it's him by sound. It's a unique thing that he made for himself.

"But specifically bass music idk there’s something about the lower frequencies and the genre in itself"

"My top 3 producers are Kilo, Au5 ( @Au5_official ) and Knetica ( @Kneticamusic )" @toogoodmusicofficial told me

🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️

"What makes bass music special to you"? I asked him

"Bass music is special because it makes low frequencies the heart of the experience, frequencies you rarely hear emphasized in other genres. It’s not just about playing tracks; it’s about feeling the sound. That’s why bass events almost always use specialized sound systems designed to deliver that deep, immersive impact. Most genres can get away with any decent system, but with bass music, that simply doesn’t cut it, and that’s what makes it so unique and exciting."

That was his answer. One common thing among bass heads you will come to find out is ... well ... the bass. That deep rumble that shakes the ground that you feel in your core.

House and techno do not need the deep deep rumble of 25hz. House music never goes that low of a sound.

Toogood is also @vizawave . VizaWave is a sound and visual company that many of you have seen and heard. But did not know it was them. From warehouses and parks throughout Philadelphia and Festival grounds all over. You have heard and seen their production.

And it's one hell of a production

"My speakers are made by turbosound and ran in a bi-amped configuration, flat tuned for accurate response between 65hz-20,000hz with a max power handling of 4000 watts total. My subs are a custom vizawave design with flat response from 25hz-65hz with a max power handling of 13,000 watts between the 4" he told me

Customized subwoofers to bring the bass low low low and lasers that go high high high

Come and dance with us tomorrow night and get the full immersive experience with @toogoodmusicofficial @vizawave and @unpopularopinion_philly

BANkaJI ( @BANkaJI_music )
Skinny Limbs ( @Skinny_Limbs )
Intentz ( @lifesintentz ) @oremmatt told me were his favorite producers of last week. But this week he's saying something different. And next week would be different again... And again.

I can hear Pocahontas singing about rivers in my head.

"I don’t have any favorite producers, my likes and dislikes change with my mood and the day. I might love someone today but not be able to stand them tomorrow….then a couple weeks later I might fall in love with them again"-Orem

We all can relate. All of our tastes of music change. It's about how you feel in the moment... And then the next moment it seems like the whole world has changed. Including you. You changed... Just as one moment you sing along to Britney Spears and the next it's Neil Young. Dance to bass one night and house the next. Both different emotional music moments. Neither to be disregarded.

It's a constant change (that river). We are emotional beings who feel. We are not "machine men with machine minds and machine hearts" to quote Charlie Chapman.

Music is an emotional experience. It is something that we feel inside of us. It is something to rejoice.

This is why Matt does music.

Come rejoice with us day after tomorrow (Afters for Saturday) with @unpopularopinion_philly
