Movement is medicine for me. 🖤

Living with chronic pain means there are days when moving my body feels like the harder choice. But I’ve learned that for me, remaining static and not moving often hurts so much more.

Aerials have become one of the ways I continue to show up for my body. Spinning, stretching, strengthening, creating, and moving—even when it’s challenging—helps me manage pain in a way that staying still simply doesn’t.

It’s not about pretending pain isn’t there or pushing through at any cost. It’s about knowing my body, working with it, and recognizing that sometimes the hard thing—getting up and moving—is actually the thing that gives me the most relief.

Aerials aren’t just something I love to do. Movement genuinely gives me quality of life. ✨

Learning new things from @xgerka ✨

I’m so incredibly grateful that I am able to attend his classes each week!

If aerial training has taught me anything, it’s that there is always something to learn, polish, and explore.

Thank goodness I found this art when I did and can spend the next few decades playing, flying, spinning, and excelling 💖

__________

🗓️ Thursday, August 27, 2026
📍 Heritage Park (Calgary)

The Chinook Fund proudly presents The Lavender Lounge.

Join us on Thursday, August 27 at Heritage Park for an unforgettable evening celebrating the rich history of queer voices, resilience, and expression.

The evening begins with a scenic cruise aboard the historic S.S. Moyie on the Glenmore Reservoir, followed by an intimate cabaret performance at the charming Wainwright Hotel.

Step back nearly a century to the vibrant nightlife of Prohibition-era New York, where gender expression flourished and the city’s legendary Queer Bars became gathering places for groundbreaking drag performers, singers, comedians, and entertainers. Against all odds, these artists created spaces of joy, courage, and community, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire queer culture today.

Hosted by award winning drag comedienne and entertainer, @lilithfairyyc , The Lavender Lounge draws inspiration from this remarkable chapter of LGBTQ+ history through music, storytelling, humour, and cabaret. Accompanied by @danielbelland on piano, the evening also features special guest performances by drag legend @argintinahailey, burlesque performer Basel Blu, and celebrated acrobat @xgerka.

Featuring excerpts from “The Pansy Cabaret” as researched and directed by award-winning playwright and queer historian Darrin Hagen, The Lavender Lounge celebrates the resilience, creativity, and fearless self-expression that helped shape the path to Pride.

Join us for an evening of music, laughter, and celebration as we honour the trailblazers who dared to be seen, paving the way for generations to come.

Doing something different by taking photos of people. Didn't expect much at first but then looked at the photos and actually got some decent photos I'm happy with.
