Our current exhibition 'Several Flames' showcases a series of larger-than-life graphite on birchwood works by the Mexican artist Alex Hank. These new works are of beautiful men - cheeky, superior, teasing and vulnerable – there is a feeling of the artist being enthralled, and yet the power dynamic is ambiguous. Hank is drawn to the aesthetics of his models. One senses a personal connection between artist and his sitters, but it is not explicit nor straightforward. The images of these young men, these portraits are revealing of intimacy, but they don’t give away too much. Not the status of the relationship, not the time of their capture, not anything other than the frozen moment of their immortalised realisation as art. Visit the exhibition, which runs until 1st November, at our gallery in Mayfair. 22 Old Bond Street London W1S 4PY Tuesday-Saturday 12-5pm For more information, please send an email to info@richardnagy.com

While known primarily for his photographic and painted portraits, Mexican artist and collector Alex Hank incorporated sculpture into his 2016 solo exhibition “Alabama Jim” at Galería Emma Molina in Monterrey, Mexico. Our studio worked with the artist to create life-size motorcycle helmets in black glass, using an acid-etching technique to add illusionistic details. These striking, solid glass works took three weeks to anneal (the process of heating glass and allowing it to slowly cool, resulting in a strong finished product), and weigh roughly 60 pounds each! Swipe to see some images of the studio process ➡️ #art #sculpture #contemporaryart #alexhank #glass #glasssculpture #glassfabrication #rossartstudio

Open throughout the year, Tarmak22 exists to breathe life into the cultural landscape of the Swiss Alps. Situated directly on the site of the Gstaad-Saanen airport, the exhibition space takes its name from the runway that it overlooks. During the winter season we host museum-quality exhibitions in collaboration with our international gallery partners, whilst producing an independent program during the less busy summer months. This current exhibition forms part of our own program, with which we hope to create an exciting dialogue for a community of artists, collectors, curators and spectators in the region. Visit ‘Bruce Conner, REPORT’ on view until 6th June. Installation view, 'Bruce Conner, REPORT'. Tarmak22, Gstaad, 2021. © Bruce Conner. 🔈OPENING SOON at Tarmak22 🔈 Bruce Conner, REPORT, 1963-67, opening 5 May. REPORT is a highly acclaimed film and deeply felt artwork on the assassination of John F. Kennedy by Bruce Conner (1933-2008). Largely based on stock footage, the film is the 8th and final version, released after four intense years of reworking and coming to terms with the tragic event. Born in McPherson, Kansas, by the late 1950s Conner became a pioneering experimental filmmaker, as well as a notable figure of the American artistic scene and of the counterculture movement in the San Francisco Bay Area. This artwork is presented by The Alex Hank Collection in collaboration with Tarmak22. NOW OPEN | SUPERFLEX • THE PARLEY⁣ 19 JUNE - 12 JULY 2020 Presented at Tarmak22 by The Alex Hank Collection.⁣ ⁣ The Parley, 2016, is a single channel video work by the Danish collective @superflexstudio ⁣ ⁣ The work is inspired by a painting titled The Pioneer and the Indian, attributed to the painter Fredric Remington. Aware of the longstanding rumors of forgery around this specific painting, SUPERFLEX engaged in a forensic examination and determined that the painting was indeed a fake. It had been painted in the style of The Parley, an actual work by Remington depicting a peace negotiation on horseback between a Native American and a Pioneer in the western prairie. ⁣ ⁣ Reflecting on different issues around authenticity, identity, and territory, SUPERFLEX restaged the painting in question using a Phantom Flex camera at a thousand frames per second, extolling in minute detail the myth of the fictionalised Wild West. ⁣ ⁣ For more information visit our website. ⁣ #superflex #theparley #video #fredericremington #forgery #authenticity #phantomflex #art #switzerland #exhibition
