Congratulations!! @pamjbrownsculptor Pam Brown up coming Solo exhibition at @duckcreekarts . Save the Date : reception August 22,5-7 pm . Pam Brown: Bound by Wire and Time August 22- September 27, Reception August 22, 5-7 pm In the Little Gallery Gallery Hours: Thursday- Sunday, 2-6 PM . Pam Brown constructs skeletal, artifact-like sculptures that are built from wire, sheet metal, and salvaged materials. Inspired by wildlife, extinction, and American history, the forms reference animal and human anatomy. Delicate and sometimes whimsical, they utilize positive and negative space to allow light and air through their open structures. Her process is deliberate and painstaking. Shapes are cut from sheet metal with scissors and assembled or "darned" together using sewing techniques, with metal and wire standing in for fabric and thread. This approach consciously evokes both domestic craft traditions and early industrial manufacturing, re-contextualizing gendered labor as something corporeal and emblematic, distinct from the heavy-handed conventions of traditional sculpture . Pam Brown is a sculptor based in Stony Brook, New York, whose work spans large-scale public installation and intimate tabletop and wall pieces rooted in American history and the natural world. ABOUT THE ARTS CENTER AT DUCK CREEK: The Arts Center at Duck Creek is a dynamic hub for contemporary art and cultural exchange on Long Island’s East End. Set on a historic property in Springs, New York, the center champions innovative artistic practices through a diverse program of exhibitions, performances, and interdisciplinary events. By bringing together leading and emerging voices across disciplines, Duck Creek fosters dialogue, experimentation, and community engagement in a uniquely inspiring natural and architectural setting. . . . . . ARTIST’S TALKS ON SUNDAY JULY 19, 4:30 -5:30 PM! Refreshments will be served! No registration necessary, but please arrive on time! 🦆 At 4:30 pm, we will begin our back to back artist’s talks in The Little Gallery, with Brent Richardson @xobrent . Brent will discuss how this exhibit, his first solo show on the East End, came together. The monochromatic paintings and drawings in “Everything and Nothing” feel surreal, futuristic, and charged with motion. Drawing inspiration from custom car culture, music, film, and the coastal energy of Montauk, where he lives and surfs, Richardson creates dynamic, illusionistic compositions that move at a near-cinematic pace. Rich with references ranging from modernist painting and psychedelic graphics to pop culture and optical illusion, the works unfold as restless visual worlds where speed, atmosphere, and imagination collide. 🦆 At 5:00 pm, we will move to the John Little Barn, where Jorge Rios @sense.non.no displays his process-driven abstractions, which merge gestural brushwork, drips, and stains drawn from the vernacular of Abstract Expressionism with graphic grids and patterns in vivid, saturated color. Shaped by his upbringing in Havana and his move to the United States in 2013, these paintings explore themes of contradiction, displacement, and transformation, where structure and spontaneity coexist. Embracing stylistic variety over a fixed visual identity, Rios uses abstraction as a space for experimentation, reflection, and playful inquiry.

Brent Richardson: Everything and Nothing, now on view at Duck Creek Gallery Hours 2-6pm, Thursday - Sunday Brent Richardson’s first solo exhibition on the East End will feature a series of monochromatic drawings and oil paintings that feel surreal, futuristic, and urgently alive. Richardson draws on the speed, light, and seduction of custom car culture, music, and film to propel his illusionistic forms through their own gestural orbit at Formula One velocity. Jean-Christophe Castelli, son of Leo Castelli who gave Richardson his debut show in 1987, brilliantly describes Richardson’s work as having eyes that “point in all different directions—to art of the past (Matta, early Mondrian), psychedelic comics and posters, the duck-rabbit optical illusions of Jasper Johns, B Movies, hot rods, Loony Tunes and Popeye, all dancing around to a dissonant, surf-guitar soundtrack It is worthwhile to note that the coastal landscape of Montauk, where the artist lives, paints and surfs, also appears in these works not as subject matter, but as atmosphere… A tidal stage for his restless cosmic glyphs. @xobrent 🌊

On HEAVEN: “I just want to say that when it was released in 1987, it tanked. I’ve never seen worse reviews. It was just awful. Nobody was interested in it at all. My ideas were left of centre. They were left of everything. I’m afraid to look at it myself, to be reminded that what I did was so bizarre.” Diane Keaton, Interview Magazine, 2021 Heaven is an avant-garde documentary that collages footage of people answering questions about Heaven, such as, WHAT IS HEAVEN? HOW DO YOU GET TO HEAVEN? IS THERE SEX IN HEAVEN? It intersperses these interviews with extraordinary assemblages of film footage depicting the after-life, taken from European and American films such as Metropolis (1927), Green Pastures (1936), and A Matter of Life and Death (1946). In a career spanning across the arts from the late 1960s to 2025, Heaven embodies Keaton’s idiosyncratic and ambitious approach to writing, photography, set design, title design, archiving, and art direction — left of everything, what remains is a quietly overlooked portrait of a true original.
