It’s so hot! It must be fall in the Bay.

On Monday, Coyote published a great article written by our very own Ronny about the new DIY imprint Names to Love You By. The record label is a home for queer and trans folks to create unvarnished, vulnerable work, and we’re so stoked they’re pushing the envelope forward for the underground arts scene here in the Bay. Head over to Coyote to get all the details.

Given the rise of AI tools that can fully produce music, the unpolished recordings on ‘Names To Love You By (Vol. 1)’ are even more compelling. The label’s founder, Kashika Kollaikal, says they reflect her interest in the human creative process in all its messiness and beauty.

The new DIY imprint officially launches with a show Sept. 25 at Wyldflowr Arts in Oakland. Read the full story at coyotemedia.org.

This is Names To Love You By, an artist-run passion project with a DIY spirit, started by Kashika Kollaikal (Flung, Honey Oat) in Oakland, CA.

i’m excited to announce that Sound & Vision is back for year 3! thrilled to have mothmaiden (bernice yu) joining the series again to open up our summer 2026 run :) it’s a treat to have the sweet melancholy of her piano songs open for animated cult classic The Last Unicorn ✨ (scroll for recaps of last year 💚)

i posted last summer (only 6 posts back, if you’re curious) about how excited and grateful i was to continue with year 2, and now want to share some love for how it went

Ghosts & Logic’s poignant music paired wonderfully with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, bridged by the release of an animated music video! feel free to send him a dm to hear about upcoming singles and shows @eliwisemusic

Flung gave us not just a magical set, but also custom fortune cookies w/ her lyrics to pair with the story of Fremont, a touching and quietly funny film that was a joy to watch together. @xoxoflung is playing shows and soon launching an experimental label @namestoloveyouby

Canterbury Bells was our first full group to join, and delivered a festive performance that led us well into the hearty laughter of Monty Python & The Holy Grail, complete with a little medieval costume contest. @thecanterburybells finished and released their debut album last month

i had the pleasure of playing my own set, followed by Ofrenda and Uncle Boonmee, a meditative short and feature combo that mean so much to me. my partner @murasakichan gave much support with a ceremonial opening, stage design, a themed drink, and collaboration on my first round of merch!

all the thank-yous on my previous s&v post still apply, and i’m additionally grateful to housemate @anythingforalinaa for the setup assistance through last summer and @serene_um ’s beautiful graphic design for s&v 8 and future shows :) and huge thanks for all of y’all that have shown up and made these summer gatherings feel so alive 😊

if you’re interested in joining, please see link in bio or dm! we’ll likely have 2-3 more this summer, and are still looking for some performers if you know someone who might be a good fit. hope to see you there 🌟
