Romans for a day at Römerkastell Saalburg! Can you imagine Roman soldiers and Germanic tribes collided and coexisted right here? Built around 90 AD, this fort guarded the Limes border for over 150 years before the Romans abandoned it to the Germanic tribes around 260 AD. It is crazy to think it is located just 10 kilometers down the road from our host city of Usingen! Our final adventure began with a 3km hike up the hill to the Kastell, where we learned all about daily life in ancient times, tried on heavy armor, learned Roman archery techniques, and practiced spear and battle formations. Finally we feasted on a traditional Roman dinner. #rhgerman #rhgermanadvantage Thank you @roemerkastell_saalburg @xperitasorg

Our partner school the Christian-Wirth-Schule is built on the exact grounds of the former Usinger Schloss, an ancient palace and castle residence for the Princes of Nassau! Imagine going to class every day inside a castle courtyard. Usingen was first recorded in the year 802! That means people have been living here for over 1,200 years. @gappexchanges @xperitasorg #rhgerman #rhgermanadvantage

For 50+ years, MN based nonprofit Xperitas has been helping students discover immersive travel by designing guided and flexible educational programs that transform the way they learn about and experience the world.

Founded by teachers in 1972 and guided by a nonprofit mission, Xperitas programs are designed in collaboration with educators and delivered with trusted local partners who understand the value of authentic, community-based learning. They believe global understanding grows through shared experience, thoughtful preparation, and meaningful connection.

Xperitas programs are designed as a complete cultural immersion experience, combining real-world language use, cultural discovery, and meaningful human connection. There are currently immersion programs in Germany, France, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Spain, and Italy.

As an example, Hola Madrid is a 10-day program that introduces students to Spain through structured language immersion, cultural landmarks, and everyday life with local host families. This purposefully designed Spanish student travel program begins in Madrid with guided visits to the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum, and historic neighborhoods where Spain’s artistic and social history come into focus. Xperita’s Spanish immersion program in Spain extends well beyond sightseeing. Students take part in a full-day excursion to Segovia to explore Roman engineering and medieval architecture, experience an evening of flamenco, and then transition into their Family Stay Experience, where Spanish is practiced daily through meals, conversations, and shared routines. This balance of guided cultural discovery and home life allows language skills to develop naturally and with confidence. By combining iconic destinations, regional traditions, and immersive family stays, Hola Madrid offers a well-rounded approach to student trips to Madrid. The program supports meaningful cultural understanding while helping students grow more independent, engaged, and comfortable using Spanish in real-world setti
