SATURDAY 3/21 7PM 💿 Join us for an evening of performances that push the boundaries of new media as they explore the intersections of art, technology, and human experience. She’s Excited! / XRE presents You Are BUTIFL, a 20-minute performance art piece combining multimedia installation and OpenAI ChatGPT to explore beauty and ugliness through interactive storytelling. ​ Katherine Helen Fisher’s Cyborg Mirror is a 30-minute techno-feminist dance performance that reimagines embodiment using AI-powered choreographic systems, machine vision, and audience interaction to challenge perceptions of womanhood and desire in the algorithmic age. ​ Mingyong Cheng, Anqi Liu, and Han Zhang of A Happy Mennn trio debut Peeling Cycle, a 20-minute immersive multimedia performance that delves into gendered visibility and the cost of legibility through a DIY laser instrument ecology and advanced AI systems. ​ Mengna Da’s Artificial Agency is a 20-minute interactive lecture performance with live music by Chienn Tai, where the audience controls the artist’s movements via a custom web app, exploring themes of data extractivism, digital labor, and cyberfeminism. ​ Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the future of performance art and new media! ​

Joyful resilience was found at the VIP Art Opening of Pen and Brush Gallery’s “Every Woman Biennial: SPECTALIA!” Honored to have attended as both a champion and friend of the talented Sandra Cavanagh. Her work “The Dressing Room IV” stood out amongst a sea of talented women and nonbinary artists. Truly so many fantastic works! Lovely to see old friends and make some new ones. Congrats to all involved. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

2025 was a special year for us. We would not be what we are today without the generous love and support of our volunteers, artists, and partners. There is A LOT of labour and love to make this happen. It is also an enormous task to undertake without any funding and financial sponsorship. We are taking a short break to rest, reflect, re-strategize, and also celebrate the past 3 years and what the MANIFEST:IO community has grown to be, and what our community needs moving forward.
