POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
For the first time in a long time, I came back from a holiday and felt a bit lost.

We’ve just come off a record month.

I got back on Monday after a two-week honeymoon, and my first instinct was the usual one:

Let’s go.
Let’s move.
Let’s fix.
Let’s push.

But this time, I stopped.

And I realised something that caught me off guard.

There was actually nothing to fix.
Nothing urgent.
Nothing that needed me to jump in and force momentum.

The business is moving.
The team is performing.
Everything is working without me.

And if I’m honest, that was unfamiliar.

I spoke to my coach and said something I haven’t said in a very long time:

I feel lost.
I don’t know what to do.

He said:
Good.
Now ask yourself what you’d actually love doing every day.

Treat it like a blank canvas.
What kind of business do you want to run?
What do you want your day-to-day to look like?
Then build that.

That hit me.

Because maybe this is the next phase.
Not building a business that depends on me.
But building one that is designed around the life I actually want.

Travelling with my wife on this trip felt different.

For the first time in my career, I wasn’t excited to get home and get back into it.

Not because I’ve fallen out of love with the business.
But because, for the first time ever, I realised I’m no longer needed in the way I once was.

And that creates a new challenge.

Not how to grow it.
Not how to save it.
Not how to push harder.

But how to redesign my role.
My days.
My life.

A different season.
A different problem.
But a good one.

Anyway, I’m working through it in real time.
And I’ll take you on the journey.

Just fucking invest.

That’s been my approach for the better part of a decade and it’s served me very well.

(Read until the end to understand the 2 most important stats I tell myself, when thinking about not investing)

The reality is, there will always be reasons not to invest:

Interest rates rising
Negative gearing noise
Wars around the world
COVID
Endless negative commentary online

In my opinion, most of it is just noise.

It has never influenced how I invest or the decisions I make.

Every single month, I invest.

Over the last 3 years, I haven’t missed a month putting 10–20% of my income into stocks.

And over the last 4–5 years, I’ve continued buying property every few months.

Never once have I sat there thinking:

“Is now the right time?”
“Should I wait?”
“Let me see what happens first.”

Could I have timed things slightly better here and there? Maybe.

But I wouldn’t be sitting on a portfolio pushing $10M at 31 if I did what most people do, which is hesitate and overthink based on what’s happening in the world.

Two simple truths which allow me to remove all the BS noise which is always around:

1. The stock market (S&P) annually has historically been positive 80% of the time.
2. At Fresh Start Advisory, we’ve never bought a property that hasn’t grown at least 11% in the first year.

That means, on average, our properties are growing $120k–$150k per year.

These 2 stats are always front of mind for me. And hitting me right in the face, when I think:

Is now the right time to invest.

They force me to shut the bullshit out, and put my money to work.

Keep investing.
Stay invested.

To your success.
