POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This is the first of many posts where I get to share what Page11 created, alongside our Partners and BetterUp, for this year’s Uplift! I am so in awe of what we were able to make together! Photo credit to @kirbayjo @hey_itsbexx

It’s been over a month since A DETECTIVE STORY and we miss this team of marvelous humans so much! 💕It’s always such a joy to bring together a group of incredible people to make a new story and a new world for that story to live in. We get into a flow of working and making and playing and waiting and joking and wrestling and spending a whole lot of precious time together… and then the performances are done and we have to say goodbye. At least until we start working on the next project…

1: Our Detective Story performance team (thanks to @dillonvado for the photo!): @wienerkids, @shanisaku, @molevy, @jcro5, @megankurashige, @hickswithham, @smileypiley, @xtina_larson, Charmaine Butcher, Cory Wright, Ben Davis, Jacob Felix Heule, Matt Wrobel

2: Warm-up ritual 1: We always have a few sections that become part of the pre-show warm-up ritual so dancers and musicians can come together.

3: @hickswithham giving big Miyazaki heroine energy.

4: Our first time trying out the audience-chosen ending on a “stranger.” Big thanks to @addienorman for being such a kind and generous guinea pig at dress rehearsal.

5: Warm-up ritual 2: Class with the wonderful @samuelmz1. Thank you to Samuel for teaching such a juicy warm-up before every performance!

6: Warm-up ritual 3: @wienerkids doing his warm-up.

7: Warm-up ritual 4: Ben doing his warm-up.

8: Allen Willner is such a beloved collaborator, but we hardly ever get pictures of him working his magic.

9: Blinds gobos for the detective’s office.

10: When your brilliant stage manager, @xtina_larson, is taking care of the dance floor.

11: Our team of volunteers does so much to support our performances. Here is the adorable Kaia showing off the dessert table. (thank you to @missykarissy for everything, but especially for bringing our superstar volunteers Kaia and Blake!)

12: Sound cue script with notes from our genius audio tech, Jacob Felix Heule.

13: Props clean up bin, featuring a lot of condiments + a sandwich made by our lovely Saturday night audience participant “wife,” @kikikiraraaa 💖

We are delighted to announce A DETECTIVE STORY, premiering October 18-20 at @zpsacesf in San Francisco. Discounted early bird tickets available now!
🔎
A DETECTIVE STORY is @sharpandfine’s newest “play for dance,” bringing together visually stunning storytelling, exuberant choreography, and live music to turn the classic formula of the detective genre inside out. A DETECTIVE STORY follows a detective as her investigation of a missing person turns into a surreal and deeply human examination of the choices we make for the people and things we love.

"What kind of FRIEND are you?"
🧚🏿‍♀️
Wow! From a kernel of an idea, to a full blown musical immersive experience, I am so so so thankful to see the day when our theater doors can finally open again! Kids need to be reminded that one of their greatest assets is their own imagination. These incredible humans worked tirelessly to see this through to fruition. I cannot thank my amazing cast enough for their huge talent and even bigger hearts. My dear creative team and stage crew holding it down and making my world physically come to life! My fellow workmates who said yes to this new vision for our theater....all hands in!
🧜🏿‍♀️
It has been 2 years since we had to close our doors. To open this weekend to full audiences playing, laughing, dancing, and cheering with us, is truly the ultimate feeling of euphoria for me. I love what we do and who we do it for. Ok gush fest over. Please tell everyone you know to come play in our imaginary world!

This weekend is going to take a lifetime to process. I overthink my birthday every year so this year I let Vera plan it. Jackie and Lauren decided to come into town for added fun, and we also had a carnival in the QSP driveway. I don’t know what I did in a past life, but I hope it balances out the blessings I am receiving in this life. 🖤❤️

Happy Closing to these adorable humans! Every show I have the honor of working on holds a special place in my heart but this one hits different. After a year of uncertainty, opening a summer show touring to communities giving families the joy of live theater and fun, was magical! Thank you to everyone @bactheatre who gave their whole hearts to bring this show to life. Through extreme heat, smoke, bugs, tech issues, body injuries and more, you all conquered and I could not be more proud!

Happy Mother's Day to all the working mamas and mom-like figures out there. And a special bless up to the one who did it all before the luxury of ZOOM's mute button. We see you and support you and love you.

With the closing of this adorably sweet tale of male companionship that holds strong throughout the years, the holiday season must finally be at an end. Thank you to my wonderful cast and crew for helping me bring this familiar and classic story to life in new, colorful ways. My heart is so full. I pray we all find our way to each other again in the near future. Congratulations on such a successful run!
