Last weekend we celebrated @galpalsclub 10th Anniversary 🥺🎂💖 It's taken me until now to find the words/space/time to really process this achievement & milestone.

I started this night when I had just turned 23, a baby gay (I'd been out for 3 years I think?) & knew nothing about nightlife or DJing.

When me & @xzandj started Gal Pals there were incredibly few nights & venues catering to lesbians/queer women. I didn't even go out that much because I didn't like most of what was available to me. There were Thursday nights at Dalston Superstore, She Bar, the basement of GAY & a couple of one-off events (which I talk about in the zine as having inspired me to create Gal Pals).

We had no grand plan with Gal Pals, I never anticipated it would even be successful. I was so shy and so unconfident when we began. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life & even though I was very smart & hard working I never believed I would succeed in life (working class mentality or just lack of confidence I am not sure). But we knew there was a huge lack of events for our community & we wanted to do something about it.

Running a successful night for 10 years hasn't been easy but it is the best job I have ever had. I've met people I love, got to work with my best friend, travelled & had so so many fun nights all because of Gal Pals. And I know countless people have had life changing moments, met lovers, friends and wives all on our dancefloor.

This is from @xzandj 's speech last weekend so I hope they don't mind me including it but I couldn't think of a better way to end this: "The dancefloor is a magical place. It is somewhere with the right music, and the right people, you can lose yourself, get out of your head, hand all of your cares and troubles to and maybe even meet your future boo.

Queer spaces and nightlife has been a necessary, vital, and consistent reprieve for our communities for hundreds of years and Gal Pals is just one in a long line of this storied tradition.'

💋 thanks to everyone who's been part of what has made Gal Pals so special over the years 💓 xxx

Best pride with the best people. My first trans pride ever, and my fabulous pals made it so incredible. I was surrounded by so much love and community, new friends and so much laughter 🥰
