— back to write a little diary because I think the past two weeks I’ve just had a lot on my mind. things about career, life, and ambitions sometimes resurface and make me think veryyyyy deeply about how I define success and how I show up in my personal life.

⭐️ slasher kai zine made its debut at the @klartbookfair with @theinkling.press ❤️ — this project was completed during the summer months after graduating with a lot on my mind. it’s an autobiographical piece documenting how I’ve been navigating the artist career- kind of opened up how it feels like… as an artist. I’m glad that sharing a more vulnerable and raw story of mine is able to bring some sort of comfort to others that do want to pursue this path too🫶🏻 thank you Vanessa & the lovely team at Inkling Press for working on this project with me!!

✏️these past few months I’d say it’s not always been the smoothest communicating with family especially when it’s met with opposing values and desires of how each other wants each other to show up. my desire of wanting to pursue career success causes me to be absent from family life at times — this feeling is something that guilts me. missing moments like the wedding of my favourite cousin, and the recent fire back at home. i want to be someone reliable and independent while what my family wants is for me to be more present. opposing values cause for certain comments to be said and honestly, it’s quite hurtful hearing things from people you love.
- i think this is also why at times, when i get asked about work life balance of just, how i have time for everything. there’s trade offs for sure— whether it’s sleep, family time, personal life costs, social life. but it goes back to priorities

im afraid of expressing negative emotions because ive found myself having to constantly justify the way i feel. so it just, turns into art instead. so it means a lot to just have this place to talk lightly about my feelings/ thoughts and see them dissipate a bit

— a few weeks back I got to record with @our.memories.hk and they asked me what I wanted to have as a snack… haha… I haven’t had egg waffles in a very long time so I decided to request for it :) this drawing is a little gift in return!

I think there are a lot of different egg waffles out there now in Hong Kong with sweet and savoury options as well… though for me, plain flavors are always the best ones because you can taste pretty much every aspect of what goes in. maybe I’m picky or maybe I’m plain but I want the base of an egg waffle to have the best eggs and vanilla. fresh. you can really taste the difference after many egg waffles 🧇

also @y3llow.van made a 3d cookiedevilz cherry girl…. Out of felt…. and sent me Rosinante and luffy one piece card so I asked her if she thinks I’m giving… emo clown energy

— finally. finally finally almost done with cookiedevilz 002. just a little bit more of admin work and I’ll be done. out of the 4-day 14hour work cycle … 7ams… 2am sleeps… WOW it has been so fun and incredibly rewarding to put this together. Now looking back at cookiedevilz 001 I’m like, wow 002 really looks much better and lowkey don’t want to give 001 a reprint but. it will get a small reprint for next week :)

thank you 2024!
— this year has been wild… really wild, and filled with many transitions and many firsts that came with many lessons.

to start off, thank you.
gratitude is something that I’ve taken the time to really take in and this is a moment that i want to say those words. I feel that so often at times, moments just seem to pass by so quickly without even really being felt and processed. being able to reflect on those moments now that it’s the holiday season really makes my heart grow fonder for the moments that may not have been easy to get through at that time, but looking back at it now, I see it with compassion and understanding. it’s odd, and I promise I’m not trying to sound wise or old lol✍🏻 the biggest change this year is cultivating this sort of inner confidence of my self/ identity and inner peace that I carry with me through all circumstances.

the biggest lesson this year is on trust. trusting in myself, my ability to do whatever regardless of how live “turns out” is a big one. trust also relates to relationships in my life too- whether it’s opening up to someone or trusting that they’ll show up… when they promise to, that’s something also on trust. trust is a big word… and I’m still learning more about it as I experience life. I’m also thankful to be able to trust those around me, and develop close relationships that fuel my delusions / goals to achieve whatever I put my mind to.

as I close the chapter of 2024 and move onto a new one for 2025, I’m resting up at home before embarking on a new journey this year— I’ll be graduating in May.. we’ll see where life takes us then :) there is much to be excited for, thankful for and grateful for. thank you for your support— it really means so so much!
