ISEFA) IFA HAND
It is an important and powerful tool to have.
It puts you on the course with Orunmila, divination and a deeper understanding of the things that are coming.
If your journey is leading you towards Ifa and you want to start connecting with Orunmila then Ifa's hand is a wonderful blessing to begin without the obligations of full initiation in Ifa.
When you are interested in receiving it, make sure you know who you are getting. They must be conscious, humble and of good character.
Ask them to make sure they are going to teach you to divine for yourself.
Ifa hand reception means that you are able to start learning Divine for yourself. All Ile do not practice this, so be sure to ask what is expected of you and what you can expect.
Do not be surprised if they say No, not ready, be patient etc. A Baba / Iya may not want to teach if someone else did it for you. The only person forced to teach you is the person who did it for you.
When you receive it take your time, be patient, listen to your teacher Baba / Iya. Trust them when they say take your time, read Odu, see how it manifests in your life to ask questions. The interpretation of Odu has a general and personal meaning as well.
Be ready to look in the mirror yourself Ifa is not a magic wand that is a system used to guide you on your way / destination with greater success. This process takes years of study no one is born an Ifa priest. If you can not learn alone, it is a communal system. There is always something to learn from the Elders with time and patience.
When you have an Elder teaching you something, listen to them appreciate what your wisdom is giving you. Do not jump ahead and think that you know better or are ready for more that they are not. Find a good Odu book read, read, read then read, read, read then read read read.
Keep a book of your readings, take notes. When you do the following readings, add notes to your divination, note how the particular Odu affected you during that week. Expand the meaning of Odu.
