Que presente poder conhecer de perto como se movimenta a cultura sound system mexicana, e poder também compartilhar um pouco de como a cultura sound system acontece aqui, a partir das radiolas e com os sounds espalhados pelo país. En ÍNTIMO inauguramos Un lugar para existir, una exposición colectiva que reúne a siete artistas centroamericanxs cuyas obras exploran experiencias de migración y diáspora, así como las transformaciones de la memoria, la identidad y las posibilidades de retorno. ¡Te esperamos para celebrar juntxs este nuevo ciclo! ¡Acompáñanos este 10 de octubre para el inicio de un nuevo ciclo de exposiciones en La Nueva Fábrica! En la galería principal presentamos "El canto de la fábrica", un nuevo proyecto de Tania Candiani (@tcandiani) que surge de una inmersión en la vida cotidiana de la fábrica textil de la que nace La Nueva Fábrica: sus máquinas, sus ritmos, sus sonidos y, sobre todo, las personas que la hacen funcionar. La exposición observa la fábrica como un organismo vivo, un espacio en el que cuerpos y máquinas se escuchan, se responden y construyen juntos una coreografía del trabajo. A partir de esta relación, las obras recorren los gestos, materiales, saberes y memorias que atraviesan la producción textil y su transmisión entre generaciones. Este Jueves en @revancha_df 6PM Proyección de “Rockers” (1979) del director Theodoros “Ted” Bafaloukos y conversatorio “Pasado, presenté y futuro del sound system mexicano” con @mosaicosonidero e invitados. Despues tendremos Dj sets en @fuga.cdmx acabando el conversatorio. El soundsystem latinoamericano tiene su propia historia y raíces. Aquí, en México, nació a la par de los sistemas de sonido de Jamaica. Los sonideros comenzaron a construir módulos rudimentarios con lo que tenían a la mano, desarrollando una historia que, en muchos sentidos, tiene paralelismos con la cultura del sound system jamaiquino. Con el tiempo, la apropiación y el estilo de los sounds de Jamaica se fusionaron con la cultura de la cumbia, la champeta, el dub y otros sonidos de Latinoamérica, dando lugar a expresiones propias. En México, diferentes colectivos han construido sus propios equipos para mantener viva esta tradición de colectividad, donde el sonido, el baile y distintas expresiones convergen para crear una cultura alrededor de las frecuencias bajas. Pero ¿cuál será el futuro del sound? ¿Qué presente vive y cómo se desarrolla actualmente? Estaremos conversando con diferentes colectivos, personajes y nuevas generaciones que forman parte de la cultura soundsystem en México, para conocer cómo construyen, escuchan y proyectan el sonido hacia el futuro. Two Waters opened yesterday at the inauguration of the Medina Triennial 2026. The work was created with hundreds of Medina residents who came together inside the former Medina High School auditorium to participate in a collective choral action grounded in breath, listening, and resonance. The project was inspired by a local hydrological condition: the Erie Canal passes above Oak Orchard Creek. Two bodies of water occupy the same territory while remaining physically separate. One is engineered, regulated, and contained. The other moves through limestone and waterfalls, turbulent and oxygenated. They coexist in extraordinary proximity, yet never touch. From this condition emerged a work about coexistence, collective memory, and the ways landscapes can shape the stories we tell together. Working alongside composer Rogelio Sosa, participants moved their voices through stillness and turbulence, rain and whirlpools, currents and ice, transforming the auditorium into a living hydrological body moving between different states. Filmed inside the auditorium and later returned to the same space as a projection, Two Waters brings together the participants of the original recording alongside other presences that never physically occupied the theater. The result is a collective portrait suspended between document and evocation, memory and imagination—at times appearing as a photograph, at times as a moving image, at times as something else entirely. The theater becomes a space where those who were there and those who were not share the same frame: those who left, those who never made it, those whom this architecture still remembers.
