Had a great time at the @nscaofficial Connecticut Clinic this past Friday.

One of the best parts of events like these is getting the opportunity to learn from coaches and practitioners who challenge the way we think about athlete development.

The lead off hitter for the day was @aefeit with his presentation:

“From Mental Reps to Max Effort: Integrating Sport Psychology Within Strength & Conditioning”

A few key takeaways that stood out to me:

🧠 Nothing matters unless you drive intent.
🧠 Motivation isn’t given—it’s unlocked through the environment we create.
🧠 We do better when more is expected from us.
🧠 Effort is tied to identity. Change the identity, and you can change the effort.
🧠 We must design environments that foster autonomy, competence, and relatedness.
🧠 Effective debriefs should highlight both the highs and lows, helping athletes reflect, learn, and grow.

One quote that really stuck with me:

“Coaches are the architects of belief.”

As strength and conditioning coaches, we often focus on sets, reps, and programming, but Dr. Feit provided a great reminder that the psychological environment we create can be just as impactful as the physical one.

Looking forward to sharing more lessons from the clinic over the next few days.

One thing that continues to be reinforced: better movement isn’t about chasing exercises—it’s about understanding people.

The intersection of mindfulness, intention, physical literacy, and physiology is where meaningful change happens. When we understand how the body works, how the nervous system responds, and how someone perceives and experiences movement, we create opportunities for lasting progress.

Lifelong learning isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about staying curious enough to keep asking better questions.

💪🏻 Thanks to the Connecticut State NSCA clinic coordinators for the opportunity to learn!
