In honor of #BlackBalloonDay, Sometimes I Imagine Your Funeral is now on YouTube, and you can watch it at the link in my bio 🔗

Black Balloon Day is a day of remembrance for those who have lost their lives to overdose, and with this film, I honor my sister Lauren, who would have turned 32 this year on March 17th 🖤

Sometimes I Imagine Your Funeral is about what it’s like to be *adjacent* to addiction and to mourn someone before they’re even gone, as I did with Lauren. So much love and care has been poured into this project, and I hope it helps you to understand the disease of addiction better

Give it a watch, add a (nice) comment, and also be sure to check out the beautifully crafted “making of” documentary created by @JayGrillo called Behind the True Story, which is also linked in my bio. Thank you Jay for documenting the emotional journey of bringing this film to life ♥️

And thank YOU for watching 🖤

LA’s last family owned 800 seat single screen movie theater is located in the heart of Gardena, California. Much has changed since 1946 but this cinema continues to stand even to this day. This short documentary captures Judy Kim and her family’s ownership of Gardena Cinema which holds decades of memories. More than just a movie theater, Gardena Cinema is a gathering point for the community, shared laughter, and the magic of watching stories unfold together.

In a city that is constantly trying to reinvent itself, this theater remains as if nothing happened with a lot of history behind its doors.

I want to thank @judy_at_gardena_cinema_ @gardenacinema for letting me capture their story and bringing it to life! I also want to thank the @themoviescreenersclub for letting me come in and film and document their event for this documentary! Thanks @charlesjgray for helping intro me to make this happen!

This was my first time directing a piece like this so it was super exciting! A big thanks to my camera and editing crew @yangstopher @jordan.s.pon for helping me make this documentary come to life
