FILMERS, PLURAL EYE

3pm Sunday 14th June 2026
at Champagne Video, 318 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North VIC 3068.

Filmers is a collective of artists and filmmakers who for the last two years set out to use smartphones to investigate the potential for making and circulating film/ sound art via digital technologies. What resulted was, among other things, a rich archaeological dig into social reality. Comprising of hundreds of short film clips; including observational epiphanies/artefacts, corner of the eye/ear perceptions, and dystopia like glimpses into quotidian worlds. Also, along the way, significant questions and challenges were raised in terms of using such technologies to produce and appreciate post-cinematic film art. This screening is the first curated program of new works by members and allies of the collective.

SOME PRE-LIMINAL PROP-POSITIONS by Marcus Bergner (10 mins, enacted live). The plural eye is an eco-communist eye as Colombian smartphones signal to us: we're living in the wrong world, and we ought to change it.
Marcus Bergner is an artist based in Brussels.

LA SORTIE by Myriam Van Imschoot with Federico Protto

(7mins, digital video, 2026)
This film was developed during a residency in a school playground, in collaboration with Frederico Protto with the support of Les Laboratories d'Aubervilliers. Children lead us through the streets of Paris in an agile dance of synchronicity and tender proximity. Everything appears different from their perspective.

info boven in Engels

Saturday art jaunt: an exhibition of joyfully weird and idiosyncratic paintings by 99 year old Helen Maudsley, complemented downstairs by Noel McKenna’s @noel.mckenna engaging portraits of animals, still lives and interiors, capturing the banality and beauty of everyday life, both @niagaragalleries; Kate Tucker’s @kate___tucker object-paintings which expand the artist’s material and spatial explorations in exciting and thoughtful ways, alongside Yanni Florence’s @yanniflorence elegant black and white photographs and painted, unique prints of urban footpaths, both @dainesinger; Heidi Holmes’ @heidiholmesheidi handsome installation of found objects and fluids evoking the experience of insomnia @counihangallery; and Lou Hubbard’s @lou_hubbard_art masterful and funny articulation of bodies and space @strawberry7872923779
