![Hi everyone! We’re Lushy (she/her) and Yasmin (she/her), and we’re running to be your 2027 POC Office Bearers.
As students of colour from Zambia and Lebanon, we know how important it is to find community, celebrate culture, and feel like your voice is heard at UniMelb.
Between us, we’ve worked across UMSU, student clubs, advocacy, events, journalism, and creative projects. Now, we want to use that experience to create more opportunities for POC students to connect, create, and lead.
We’re excited to:
🎨 Launch a brand new POC Creative Series, including a multicultural student film festival
💡 Provide over $1500 in POC grants to support student-led projects and ideas
✊ Continue pushing for stronger anti-racism measures and accountability at UniMelb
From cultural festivals and community events to creative projects and advocacy, we want the POC Department to be a space where students feel empowered to bring their ideas to life.
This isn’t about us. It’s about making sure POC students have the support, resources, and platform they deserve.
