🎬🎬🎬…

A blast from the past collaboration 🤩…I was so honored to have been asked by founder of @getinposition21 and director Craig Merritt to produce today’s episode of Kidney Korner Podcast.

I love being able to create both in front of and behind the camera. Every opportunity is another chance to learn, contribute, and grow.

And yes… my traditional #OnSet selfie session was still very much in effect….📸

💚 FSGS Awareness Day.

I’m just a mom who had never heard of FSGS until two of my sons were diagnosed in 2021 and 2022. Joshua was preparing to graduate high school. Jorden was studying for his real estate exam. Life changed in a blink.

What began as a devastating diagnosis became a journey of advocacy, education, and hope.

Along the way, we learned that approximately 1 in 7 people of Afro-Caribbean ancestry carry APOL1 risk variants, which may increase the risk of kidney disease. We also learned the importance of genetic testing, screening, and knowing your family history.

Our advocacy journey has taken us farther than we ever imagined—even to Ghana—connecting us with patients, families, researchers, and advocates around the world.

If there’s one thing you take from our story, let it be this: Know your risk. Get screened.

Today, I’m grateful that both of my sons are stable and living full lives. I’m grateful for how all of my children have adjusted to our new normal. I’m also grateful for every patient, caregiver, advocate, researcher, clinician, and biopharmaceutical partner fighting alongside us.

My sons coined the phrase “Facing Struggle, Gaining Strength,” and over the years it has become our family’s anthem.

There is hope. 💚

Motherhood is the strangest, most beautiful thing.🌸

You have these babies, spend years loving and protecting them, and then slowly teach them how to go out into the world on their own… all while wishing you could protect them forever.

I’ve lived many versions of mom life: a young single mom, married stay-at-home mom, student mom, working mom, and a mom of children with chronic illness. I’ve prayed more times than I can count, hoped I was enough, worried deeply, loved fiercely, and kept going even when I was exhausted.

It’s what us moms do.

Happy Mother’s Day, moms. No matter what version of mom life you’re in, You are enough. 💖

And to my six babies, I love you always. 💖

💙 Happy 32nd Birthday to my oldest son, Jalen.

Born a fighter—weeks in the NICU, years battling asthma, and always strong. You’ve kept us on our toes with your high energy and wildly eventful life (lol), and I’m so proud of your commitment to coaching, your career, and your passion for life and everything you love.

As you step into year 32, I wish you peace, love, and joy.

Our song will always be You Are My Sunshine. I sang it to you from day one—so even on the tough days, remember to shine your light. ☀️

Here’s to 32! 🥂💙
