Your rep doesn’t stop when your feet do.

In this week’s 60 Second Tech Block, Garrett Lippie (@g_lippie27) talks about staying visually engaged even when the drill stops. Getting off your heels, keeping the body active, and staying performance-ready through every hold can make a major difference in how a full ensemble reads.

Garrett joins Haley Harrington (@h_harrington14) and Devin Rossey (@devvvie96) for On A Water Break S4EP36, covering:

* Blue Devils percussion leadership changes with John Mapes and Scott Johnson
* JD Shaw retiring from Phantom Regiment after 17 years
* WGI’s Color Guard Event Manager opening
* WGI 2027 judge applications
* Melanin Mosaic’s NYC color guard casting call
* Remembering Hawkeye Marching Band member Derek Phillips
* Marching band and color guard recruiting
* Water We Doing?!
* Gush & Go
* Garrett’s full 60 Second Tech Block

Hosted by: Haley Harrington
With: Garrett Lippie and Devin Rossey
Executive Producer: Jeremy Williams

Presented by Guard Closet — uniforms, flags, costumes, consignment and design for the marching arts.

Meet the newest additions to the On A Water Break team.

We’re growing the crew both on the mic and behind the buttons, and we’re excited to officially welcome Courtney Coffey, Garrett Lippie, and Devin Rossey.

Courtney Coffey — Host
From Honolulu to James Madison University, teaching, choreography, and creating Simply Color Guard, Courtney brings an educator’s perspective rooted in movement, accessibility, and helping performers understand the why behind what they do. In her first episode, she jumped straight into conversations about dance technique, skill development, professionalism, and creating better learning environments in the marching arts.

Garrett Lippie — Host
Garrett’s marching arts story started on saxophone because drums were apparently too loud for the house. That didn’t last. He found drumline at Cumberland Regional, marched Raiders, United and 7th Regiment, and has spent the last several years teaching percussion. He also performs with the Philadelphia Eagles Drumline. On his first OAWB rehearsal, Garrett was already talking performer engagement, recruiting, getting sticks into kids’ hands, and why we should never mentally check out during a hold.

Devin Rossey — Associate Producer
Devin started as a flute player before a band director suggested color guard. One practice was enough—he fell in love with it. Since then, he’s taught and directed color guard, worked on parade routines, and moved into software development. He also brings a real interest in making the activity easier to discover, from middle-school recruiting and open gyms to building more resources, education, and community around the marching and performing arts.

Different paths. Different specialties. One rehearsal.

Welcome Courtney, Garrett, and Devin to Team On A Water Break.

You’ll be seeing—and hearing—a lot more from all three.
