As the year ends I’m glad to finally be releasing this video. My friend Moyin and I enjoyed the sunrise, earlier this summer, as we discussed many topics. One of them being what it means to be a woman.

This video is something that emphasizes the woman I am and pushes me to take up space and release content. This is a piece of ME. For so long I’ve been scared to take up room. I’ve always tried to do things as best as possible so I’m never a burden or never giving any one reason to speak badly about me. But one thing I’ve learned this year is people will do that anyways. So why shouldn’t I do what brings me joy, what makes me feel free, be selfish in that way. Being a creative director is not what I dreamed about as a child but is definitely something I feel called to in my life right now. I’m grateful for the people that include me in their creations and the people who will include me. And I pray all those who I collaborate with feel lighter and fulfilled afterwards. That they feel blessed and that in some way they’ve grown closer and kinder with themselves.

This is what it means to me to not only just be a woman but just to be; not caring who agrees with me but still sharing what I know. Not always feeling bold, but always being felt. I am impact and I am impacted. I am not one dimensional. I am not perfect. I am created from God’s loving kindness. I am an instrument for the glory of God. I am.

To many more experiences and creations 🎉💐

in 365 days,
we get to tell so many stories.
today, i think im stuck on one.
i got a text about this thing
in hermann park sometime last march.
a friend from college texted me
and asked me to show up
for this show she was about to start.

i put my dog on a leash,
wore black on black (that’s my thing),
and made my way to a big patch
covered in fine dirt and new grass,
and i sat my ass right in the front.

saw so many new faces
that are now accompanied by names
and traits i love in the itty bitty
yearbook in my mind.

little did i know
after that show
that thing she started
would become a story
where she and i both
wrote the lines.

happy new year’s eve, dear friends. as 2023 comes to an end, i want to show appreciation for myself and for everyone who was on this insane, mystical journey of art and creativity w me this year. i wanna thank my friends who came to every event i hosted, i wanna thank everyone who was part of my creative process, and, most of all, i wanna thank God for putting this in my heart.

2023 was a challenging year mentally. a lot more goes into being a full-time artist than it seems. and i want to applaud myself for not allowing my distractions or other responsibilities to take me off course this year.

this was a year of pushing past imposter syndrome for the sake of pursuing what i love. this was the year of moving forward despite how hard it got. this was the year of believing in myself even when it felt like nothing was working. and i couldn’t have done it without you all. thank you, for a beautiful year of music. thanks for believing in me, even when i don’t believe in myself. cheers to 2024, let’s take this to the moon 💐🥂
