Good meals are made even better by great accompaniments.

A special thank you to Yenchaar for treating our guests to their delicious chicken pickle at Mango Mixer. It found its way onto more than a few second helpings.

We’re so grateful to have had them as part of our very first Supper Plugs experience 😁🐣

DM @yenchaar to get your jar!

Since I started @yenchaar , I’ve moved away from my home in Vasai. It's ironic considering the idea began after my mom made the achaar as an attempt to offer my sister and me a little taste of our childhood home in Manipur.

There's so little of my home state I remember, and the little news representation of the violence it suffers blurs memories I have.

Making @yenchaar has become my way of sneaking back for a glance at my 10-year-old self. The smell of bubbling golden mustard oil. Roasting cloves and cinnamon. A sneaky deep breath over the pan. Grinding the spices, then working the chillies into a coarse, gravelly mix.
I do it all with my mom and sister. It's a little doorway back to Imphal in 2006 for me.

I think everyone has a place where they belonged, where they made memories, and they carry a piece of it wherever they go. I’m not someone who likes to be tied down by ideas of belonging, but what can I say, it was beautiful growing up there.

@yenchaar has always been my attempt to bring you (and myself) a piece of that.

DM me to get a jar. :)
