The @barefootantigua possie has been slaying wahoo recently so I decided to dust off the chef skills and make something that is such a healthy amazing delicious treat!! Fresh “Wahoo jerky” it’s quite a process, leaving early in the morning to catch this beautiful fish, bleeding and icing it then filleting it with precision and portioning out each piece perfectly to be seasoned with the secret blend 😉Left to marinate over night in the refrigerator, wracked in the morning and dehydrated for hours on end until it’s perfect!!!! and Because it’s soooo dam good i decided to share with anyone who likes that kind of food. Absolutely packed with protein, no preservatives. This batch is a home made teriyaki based! So if anyone would like to purchase a vacuum bag of this incredible jerky, shoot me a message!! And if not it safe lol more for me and will not go to waste 😀

Today three of the four Writers Well group met up and it was a much needed creative fix after a few weeks of loss.

We're all working on different projects, face writing challenges and we energise each other. They make me write, question my writing and process. It's two, three hours of talking, sharing, storytelling, questioning and learning.

If you don't have a writing community whether face to face or online, think about joining or starting one. Writing is often a lonely pursuit, and being able to talk about your work, projects, querky stuff is good, really good for the writing process.

Marrying him was so nice, I went ahead and did it twice.

June 16, 2025: Hong Kong. Matt proposed to me while I was in a white dress and he was in a suit, five minutes before we left to go to the marriage registrar. We were already on our way to do it anyway, so I obviously said yes 😉. We took a taxi there, got hitched, had dim sum, and took the trolley home, with our amazing friends Tom and Laura as our guests, witnesses and photographers. Thank you, you two. We love you endlessly and literally couldn’t have done it without you.

A year to the day later: Antigua. We did it again, this time with a whole week of celebrations with family and friends, in the church my parents were married in, with my grandfather officiating. A few hiccups, lots of laughs, and some crying, it was perfectly us.

Thank you to everyone who helped make each wedding happen, and everyone who came from near and far to celebrate with us.

So now that ya know, here are some pictures from both. Will probably post more pics, but we won’t get married again — twice is enough.

We love you, but most importantly… we love each other.

Matt is the best egg, and I love eggs, so I know how to pick ’em. So yay to that 🥂💒

The Writers Well writing group is bonding over words, life stories, questions and supporting each other. Although I am the 'published' one, I feel quite vulnerable yet supported. Questions are asked, more writing and ideas shared.

As we celebrate Culinary Month here in Antigua and Barbuda, I am diving into this fascinating book by Lee Johnson a Trinidadian creative whose work includes stage design, print making and graphic illustration.

Johnson describes his book 'mixing memory & desires - How History Shaped The Foods of the Caribbean' (published by @ianrandlepublishing) as 'a food book with a large side dish of history.'

It is such an enjoyable read - from the First Peoples to the present day our food is more than sustenance 'it was a statement of resilience' - I had to highlight this line on page 65 and several other lines that show food in the Caribbean was forged out of cultures and memories colliding which created food that was eventually eaten by all stratas of the plantation society.

Every chapter ends with reference notes. The prose flows well and is filled with quotes from historical documents as well as lines from songs/ poems.
