This moment.

For the years I kept being told “no” when it came to an acceptance letter. To losing a 4 year old daughter before starting medical school. To moving 2,000+ miles away from America to Barbados to start medical school. To being able to transfer to an American school. To starting clinical rotations at 30 weeks pregnant. To delivering a healthy baby boy while doing an elective rotation. To 6 weeks off for maternity leave then right back to rotations. To the MANY nights of little sleep due to a newborn. To the times of mom guilt when missing “Muffins with Mom” or missing my child’s doctor appointment because I’m in the middle of an emergency C-section.

Though I still have a few things left to do for the remaining school year - it’s in this moment I reflect on the above.

To my husband, that man has been my backbone through this journey. Life would be different without him. The continuous pouring of prayer, encouragement, love, understanding, extra jobs & sacrificing so that I could live out my dream (he put his dreams on hold for me) is what truly kept me going. I truly adore my husband. Medical school is hard, but being a parent & wife while doing it is even harder. I’m thankful for my village being there for me even when I wasn’t there for myself.

Because God is sovereign, I have to continuously remind myself that not only will God’s will be done - but it’s always good & that’s regardless of how I feel.

To my husband, DeWayne, & my son, Anthony. WE did it.
