Hey! I’m Yesenia Mejia, or Yesi🩷 I started my apprenticeship in May 2023 and tattooed real skin for the first time in June 2023… on my husband! 😀I’ve been tattooing professionally with my license since May 2024.

Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved art. I knew I wanted to create something meaningful and unique. I originally went to college for engineering, got my associates, but I felt like my true passion was somewhere else. Tattooing was always something I wanted to pursue, so my husband gifted me my first tattoo machine and supported me 110%. Thanks to him, I overcame my fears and finally went for it! Now I get to create art every day and I couldn’t feel more blessed.

My favorite piece has to be my Candy Girl Tattoo. (Last pic in post💚) I created it during a very stressful situation, the day before a tattoo convention because my original model became sick and could no longer attend. I had to create an entirely new concept from scratch, and thankfully, my friend save the day by agreeing to be my model!

The final piece became a beautiful color portrait that I couldn’t have been happier with. It earned two awards, which was an amazing accomplishment… But honestly, being able to bring that peace to life under those circumstances was rewarding enough on its own.

I love that my clients trust me to create something meaningful that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Tattoos are more than just artwork… there are a form of self expression. Being able to help someone express their story, personality, memories, or emotions through my art is incredibly special to me.

I love how comfortable both my clients and I feel at Image Studios. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, the environment is always clean and everything feels very professional. It has been a great place for me to grow my business and create a space where my clients feel comfortable.

A hug that couldn’t happen, but will now stay with me forever. ❤️‍🩹 My mom didn’t get the chance to see my son graduate. 🥺

It represents my love for my mom, the pain of losing her, the love she had for her grandson, and the special moment I know she would have been so proud to witness. A hug that never got to happen but one that will now live forever on my skin and in my heart.

Te extraño cada día, Mami. Mi amor por ti será eterno. 🕊️❤️

Also a shout out to @yesitatattoos for my tattoo 🥹 great experience!! 🫶🏼🌸

Returning to Atlanta after just over two years was surreal. The last time I was here, I had no freedom and was in a very different place in life.

Coming back now for a special occasion and leaving having helped @basilioxtattoo earn awards was a powerful reminder of how far I’ve come. Grateful for the journey and everyone who helped me get here especially my wife @raejulianpiercing 🙏

What a weekend in Atlanta. 🏆

Spent the past few days at @villainarts @atlantatattooartsfestival and came home with 12 trophies, including Best of Show. Truly grateful for the recognition and the whole experience.

The winning piece was done 28 hours over 3 days, and huge respect to my model @zack.julian for trusting me with this personalized project and for sitting like a champ all weekend long.

Big thanks as well to my other models @little5150, @raejulianpiercing, @nevermoreink, and @wasabei_ for representing my work so well.
Atlanta was wild! Amazing crowd, amazing artists, and a lot of support from everyone. Couldn’t have asked for a better show to start my competition year.

Also, congratulations to @yesitatattoos & @_dark.forest.ink_ for their wins, and @paper.n.pins for experiencing her very first convention — proud of you guys! 👏

Huge appreciation to my sponsors for always backing my work:
