With a 58% YES vote, we celebrate this key win and celebrate a brighter future for seniors, disabled individuals, and working class families in San Francisco. BiSHoP distributed over 3,000 flyers for Prop G across SoMa, and we thank all of the supporters of this fight to house our city’s vulnerable. However, the fight for tenant protections remains crucial. With rent control protections not expanding, and affordable housing bonds still difficult to pass, our fight is as relevant and needed as ever — especially for immigrant families in San Francisco. This giving season, help us maximize new resources while protecting families in need. On October 29th, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a Special Use District for New Asia - a 175 unit senior housing site at 772 and 758 Pacific. The project marks the first 100% affordable senior housing development in Chinatown in over 20 years! The project will also be able to keep most units at rents affordable to extremely low-income or ELI seniors, thanks to Proposition G - a ballot measure that will help subsidize units in several affordable housing projects if passed! Thank you to the city and community leaders, and our staff who spoke in support of the New Asia project and Prop G at the press conference. Our clients can’t afford the city’s so-called “affordable housing” which should serve them. They contemplate squeezing and crowding into a smaller but less expensive market-rate unit, or leaving San Francisco altogether. Put our most vulnerable tenants first - vote YES on #PropG to take a step toward meeting our client communities' needs. With your vote, you can help SF residents like Luisa - pictured here. Luisa, a Spanish-speaking mother of three, is currently going through the eviction process and previously received a subsidy. After losing that subsidy, she found it unsustainable to pay rent going forward, as she is the single provider of the household. She has been working on and off at a bakery and school, but between her children's health problems due to mold in her building, among other things, it has been difficult to support her family. #PropG would help Luisa, and many in her situation, with existing funding to meet our clients’ needs and enable them to stay in their homes. Vote YES on #PropG and help to fill a critical gap to create more affordable housing for seniors and families without increasing taxes. 💙 Excited for the weekend? We’re still reliving last Saturday! 👟 We are so proud of the success of our inaugural We Run Bayview 5K event! 💚 Over 100 of you came out on Oct 12th to Candlestick Point State Recreation Area to run, jog, and walk in California’s first Urban State Park. (Created because of one of our founders no less!) 🏞️ A dozen of our community partners, local businesses and sponsors showed up to provide resources, great food and bright smiles to everyone who came out. 😁 This is the first of many thank yous to everyone who supported this event and our amazing volunteers who helped put this event on - we’re so thrilled to have brought the community together. Check out some of the photos and joy from our amazing race! 📸: @aweaverphoto

Why are we #YesOnG in the upcoming San Francisco election? It will help extremely low-income seniors, families, and people with disabilities. Check out all our proposition endorsements for the November 5, 2024 election at our pinned post or at lwvsf.org/ballot-recommendations (link in bio), and then #VoteWithTheLeague! Vote YES on Proposition G! #YesOnPropG #SanFrancisco #SF #SFpol #SFelection #Election #ElectionDay #BallotRecommendations #ElectionEndorsements #PropositionEndorsements #Vote #Democracy #VoterGuide #GOTV #BeAVoter League of Women Voters of San Francisco. Yes on Proposition G. Here's why: This would create a fund for rental subsidies for affordable housing developments serving extremely low-income households of seniors, families, and people with disabilities. This won’t raise taxes, and has an end date and oversight. We support rent subsidies and subsidized low-income housing programs. Vote through November 5, 2024.
