“Then one day she sat and watched the shadow of herself going about tending the store and prostrating itself before Jody, the while all the time she herself sat under a shady tree with the wind blowing through her hair and her clothes. Somebody near making summertime out of lonesomeness.” -Their Eyes Were Watching God, Chapter 7, Pg.77 #eyesovergables @yetanothergonzo

Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week, and as highlights, we wanted to show our appreciation for our Advisor, Melissa Gonzalez. Mrs. Gonzalez does so much for us and helps us out in so many ways. We’re extremely grateful to have her as our Advisor.

“The wind came back with triple fury, and put out the light for the last time. They sat in company with the others in other shanties, their eyes straining against crude walls and their souls asking if He meant to measure their puny might against His. They seemed to be staring at the dark, but their eyes were watching God”.

Here they realize the strong forces of nature, that they are no match to god. They were staring at the darkness but they were really staring at god. Realizing him and his mightiness and also begging for mercy to be saved from the hurricane. And in that moment when I read that, I too was staring at darkness within the clouds but truly watching god.

"She was stretched on her back beneath the pear tree soaking in the alto chant of the visiting bees, the gold of the sun and the panting breath of the breeze when
the inaudible voice of it all came to her. She saw a dust-bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister-calyxes arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight"
