The Dining Room torna presto! 📹 @vittorioiandolino_photo

Last week, the SPAZIO GRIOT and ICI London pop up at Hoxton Arches was activated and transformed by Valerie Tameu’s performance installation. Tameu’s research in preparation for ‘𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘰 1. 𝘐 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩!’ involved engaging with the history of working-class Turin, where immigrants and organised workers collectively mobilised to address wage inequality, racism and to demand better working conditions in the 1980s. Her performance was recorded around a concrete water tank, an archetypical feature of industrial architecture that — along with photographs, objects, costumes and stage props from her personal archive distributed in the gallery space — visually highlights the idea of positioning oneself within a historical narrative and context. Images of various industrial sites are aditionally interspersed in the video documentation of the site-specific performance to highlight the intersection of architecture and memory. Here are some installation views of the Dec 1 performance installation of Valerie Tameu ___________________________________________ Valerie Tameu, 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘰 1.
